Physical Education Reflection
After reading the physical education framework, the knowledge needed to teach physical
education in an elementary classroom would be to have knowledge of movement concepts,
principles, and strategies that apply to physical education. My KIN 425 class prepared me by
showing different teaching tips when teaching physical education. Also, I had to come up with
lesson plans and circuit training activities. I feel well prepared in motor skills and movement
patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities because I played soccer for many years
and have coached pee wee soccer teams in the past. I feel less prepared in demonstrating to
students upper body strength such as doing pushups because my upper body strength is poor.
The artifacts or work samples that I plan on sharing in this area of my portfolio would be my
physical education newsletter that would be sent home to parents, my circuit training center, and
physical education class rules. The work samples demonstrate my knowledge or learning in
physical education because it shows that I can come up with different and unique physical
education activities and that I know how important it is to have parents involved in fitness and
healthy nutrition. The work samples connect to my personal experience in teaching physical
education because I know that students can get bored quickly, so one must have a variety of
activities for them.
