activities to develop
mathematical skills and
concept using these
materials

1 Thermometer
.

A thermometer tells
the temperature in
Fahrenheit and Celsius
degrees.

Children could use the

thermometer to measure the
temperature in the classroom
and in the playground. This will
develop their skills in reading
the thermometer.

2 Flask
.

In a flask the students

can make a solution
by using two different
liquids or a liquid and
a solid.

Using the flask to mix a solid

and a liquid the students will
understand what will happen
when there is a chemical
reaction. For example, using a
flask to mix sodium bicarbonate
with vinegar the students will
see a chemical reaction taking
place.

3 scale
.

A scale tells the

weight or the mass of
an object.

Students can use a foam ball

and a tennis ball on a scale to
see that same sized objects
differ in their mass.
