Lesson Plan Format

Small Group-Lesson

Grade Level: Year 1 Subject: Literacy (English langage arts)

Time Needed: 20 - 25 minutes


Title of Activity: Read aloud +Worksheet activity

Materials Needed: Story book, printouts, marker, pencils, and rubbers.

Title of the story: Whatever Next by Jill Murphy

Learning Outcomes: (Age appropriate language, what students will know and be able to do at the end of lesson,
what is the learning objective)

 Students will be able to draw a new character to add to the story.


 Students will be able to write 4 adjectives to describe the new character.

Procedure: (Include Motivation, Introduction, Development and Closure)

1. Teacher will introduce the lesson and the objectives…by the end of the lesson students will complete the
two learning objectives.

2. Warm up activity (ice breaker/ accesing prior knowledge): teacher will teach the students how to play
guess who.
A students will to choose a character and will say adjectives that describe the character and the other
students will try to find the character that the student is describing.

3. Instructional methods and strategies incude:


Teacher will read the story to the students. After that the teacher will ask the students to complete the
activity.
Students who are able to complete the task will be asked to write a senstence to describe the character
they have drawn.
The teacher will have a chart of words that the students could use.

Assessment: (Evidence of learing outcomes achieved) (7 -8 mins)

The students will be asked to draw another character to replace Baby Bear and to write words to describe the
character. The outcome of the lesson will be achieved if the students could describe the character with 3 - 4
adjectives.
