Objectives:

1. Students will be able to identify solfege syllables from mm.41-56


2. Students will be able to maintain their note confidently
3. Students will be able to transfer from solfege syllables to text

Materials:
1. Stand by Me : Arranged by Roger Emerson
2. Piano
Procedure:
9:53-9:57
Teacher will show the E-flat major scale on the board
Teacher will explain that since the key is E-flat Major, E-flat is Do
Students will come up and fill in the solfege syllables for the scale
Students will sing the E-flat major scale on solfege and Curwen hand signs
9:58-10:00
Teacher will ask students, What is a chord?
Teacher will circle the first note for each individual voice part
Students will look to see what solfege syllable their voice part starts on
10:01-10:05
Students will learn all solfege for all voice parts before singing their own
Teacher will go over parts as many times as necessary
Students will sing this section all together on solfege
10:06-10:07

Students will sing mm. 41-49 on text


Assessment:
1. Teacher will listen to students for correct notes and rhythms (group)
2. Teacher will listen for proper solfege syllables (group)
3. Teacher will listen for separate voice parts when students transfer from solfege to text (group)
