Title: Active Music Listening Presentation


Grade Level: K-3rd Grade

Objectives:
1. Students will be able to learn each movement prior to hearing the piece
2. Students will be able to apply each movement to the appropriate part within the song
3. Students will be able to apply different movements to the form, ABAB1A (modified ABA)

Materials:

1. Laptop with recording of Les Toreadors from the opera, Carmen


2. Prezi

Procedure:
1. Teacher will demonstrate each movement
Horse - gallop in place
Jaguar - sneaky, subtle walk
Bunny - hop in place
2. Teacher will have students move to each movement
3. Teacher will repeat any movement as necessary
4. Teacher will play the piece, Les Toreadors
Teacher will call out each movement as the sections change, and demonstrate the movements to help students make the connection.
5. Teacher will then show the Prezi as the piece repeats again.
Teacher will tell students to look at Prezi for help
Assessment:

1. Teacher will visually observe students for correct movements (group)


2. Teacher will visually observe for correct movement/section changes (group)
3. Teacher will ask students what they noticed about the form, A B A B1 A, stated on the Prezi
presentation. (individual)
4. Teacher will ask students what ABAB1A form is known as (individual)
