Outdoor Doodle

Khalid, today you spent sometime at our outdoor doodle area. When I offered the container
filled with coloured pencils, you used your right hand to pick a colour. You then held the
pencil in your right hand and started to draw.
Khalid, you had a little trouble holding the pencil in the pencil grip. I quickly demonstrated
how we hold pencil and in no time you were able to hold the pencil in this grasp whilst you
made marks on your paper. I talked to you about the colour of the pencil you had chosen,
green and that the marks on the paper were made by you moving the marker pens across the
page. Khalid, you indicated to me that you were done when you said finish, I am going to
play something else now.
Khalid, you displayed an interest in drawing. You are learning different ways to be
creative and expressive through art processes. You are developing your fine motor skills,
pincer grip and pre-writing skills, well done! Khalid, you are also being exposed to
language around the process to build upon your existing vocabulary.
Khalid, we will continue to offer you a variety of art mediums to experiment with and to
develop and extend upon your creativity.
