The manufacturing lab tour in Sydenham Laboratories opened my eyes into how immense the help of manufacturing companies is to the field of medicine. I noticed how meticulous they were in terms following CGMP guidelines as I saw in their lab what I only knew in theory. The level of ingenuity they offer to their clients is actually very remarkable.

REFLECTION ON THE MANUFACTURING LABORATORY TOUR AT SYDENHAM
LABORATORY By: Mark Louis A. Chica
On March 17, 2016, it was a Thursday; we had our manufacturing lab
tour in Sydenham Laboratories Incorporated situated in Dasmarinas, Cavite. We went as a class and were accompanied by our dear professor, Ms. Marilyn Ngo and by two JPA officers- Felps Villanueva and Nina Soriano. Upon our arrival on the premises, we were amicably welcomed by a lovely woman named Ms. Jam which is the companys head of training. We then proceeded to their conference room and were given a brief orientation on how the company works and what the industry has to offer in terms of producing quality and efficient drug products. We were also oriented about the different facilities present in their company. They told us that there were 4 main sites of manufacturing- for non penicillins, penicillins, cephalosphorins, and for hormones. We then proceeded to tour around the non penicillin manufacturing site by batches. As we toured around the vicinity, I noticed how meticulous they were in terms following CGMP guidelines as I saw in their lab what I only knew in theory based from my readings. I noticed everything was in order, everything has a specific designation, and everything was organized. Cleanliness was perfect. The personnel followed instructions well. The operation in whole was good. It was a bit sad that we werent able to see the machines and the people in action because we had arrived at an unusual time-their lunch break. We had a chance to see the machines though. Their machines were really high end and looked very efficient in what they do. I was astounded to know that they were this vast and versatile in terms of making drug products. The level of ingenuity they offer to their clients is actually very remarkable. All in all the lab tour opened my eyes into how immense the help of manufacturing companies is to the field of medicine. Sydenham Laboratories has taught me how to ingenious, creative, and determined.
