1. How does Jack feel about Mr. and Mrs. Howard? What does this reveal about Jack?

3. On the bottom of pager 276 and then on 277, Jack looks at himself in the mirror once he has been
outfitted in his new clothes. He says that if the person looking back at him knew what kinds of trouble he
was headed for, he might have given up. But instead, how does Jack say he looks at himself in the mirror?

4. The woman at the store says that she won’t buy the guns but she
will take them as a pawn. When you pawn something the person
gives you less money than it is worth. There is a certain amount of
time when they will hold the item during which you can come buy it
back. After that period of time if you have not returned, the person
can sell it to another person. Does Jack get a fair price on the guns?

5. The pawn ticket is what you show to get your item back. Why does Jack drop his in the gutter?
