SYSTEMS

ANALYSIS
ANALYSIS STEPS

Gather
Detailed
Information

Attempt to completely
understand a system.
Observe similar, existing
systems in great detail.
Learn about how and who the
system interacts with, at all
points, and in all stages.
This can be accomplished
through interviews, polls, and
suggestion boxes.

Define
Requirements

Determine the functions of the

system, and how it should carry
those functions out.
Describe these processes in
detail and explain to what
scale their capabilities should
have.
This also includes determining
the required hardware,
software, and price.

Prioritize
Requirements

Determine what features or

functions are vital to
accomplish the task
Consider extra features with
the client.
Communicate with the
client and the user about
what functions aid the
company.

Develop UI
Dialogs

Explaining a graphical
interface to a client is easier
than explaining a flowchart.
Creating user interfaces early
can be helpful later in
development, when
implanting the system.
Understand how the interface
interacts with the data.

Evaluate
Requirements
with Users

Prototype interfaces and

systems that please the client.
Check with the client concerning
inclusion of non-critical
functions.
Analyze the possibilities of the
system with the client and
users.
This step may occur multiple
times, until each party
understands the system.
