ReadingTeaching Text Structure in NFProblem Solution 1. Briefly describe the class and lesson scheduled to be observed. This lesson will be taught to my current 5th grade classroom consisting of 22 students, 4 of which have an IEP with multiple reading goals. The standard I am working on is RI.5.5 with the I Can statement of, I can explain how the pieces of a text fit together to provide structure. Prior to this lesson, we have already learned about chronological order, comparing and contrasting, and cause and effect. Todays will focus on problem solution. 2. Identify any topic or practice for which it would be helpful to have the evaluator specifically view and collect information. I would like for you to see overall how the topic is introduced, explained, and practiced. I want to make sure that my teaching practice is clear for the students. During reading time I like to have a variety of students participating, whether it be reading out loud or sharing answers/thoughts with the class. 3. List any items you want to call to the attention of the evaluator. We will be working with an interactive notebook, I would like to hear feedback on how the looks from your perspective and if you think it helps keep the students engaged/active. 4.
