The Disappearance of Amelia Earhart
There are many rumors and theories that make Amelia Earharts
disappearance stranger and stranger, but whats the real truth of this female
aviator? Amelia Mary Earhart was born July 24, 1897. She was the first female to fly
solo across the Atlantic Ocean which earned her the U.S. Distinguished Flying Cross
record. She has written books about her flying experiences, and did a course of
aviation at Purdue University.
Amelia was a very courageous female; she planned on a round the world trip
in March of 1937. She flew to Hawaii with fellow pilot Paul Mantz to begin this flight.
Earhart lost control of the plane on takeoff and had to be sent to the factory for
repairs. (Amelia Earharts Last Flight). It would put Amelias journey on hold for a
long two months. June came around and she would again try at her trip starting in
Miami this time being accompanied by navigator Fred Noonan, dangerously leaving
behind her communication and navigation tools so that she could have room for
extra gas.
Amelia and Noonan got to New Guinea while Earhart was battling illness and
lack of rest. From there, made their way towards Howland island located in the
middle of the Pacific Ocean. But this is where it took a wrong turn. July 2 nd, 1937 was
the last day that Earhart and Noonan were heard from. Many rumors and stories
lead to the disappearance of the two, but none have enough evidence to prove their

discoveries. My own personal belief is that she crossed into the mysterious Bermuda
Triangle. The Bermuda triangle is located in the Pacific Ocean right in the middle of
Miami, Bermuda and Puerto Rico. (Bermuda Triangle) it is known to be the reason
behind numerous ship and aircraft disappearances.
A recent study by a US school teacher claims she has the mystery solved.
Instead of being lost on an island by the name of Nikumaroro, which is the most
popular mystery to her absence saying how she either crashed or actually might of
survived but died later due to being a castaway. The teacher explains how Earhart
was on her way to Marshall Islands but came to an error, reason being due to lack of
fuel which led to an emergency stop on Howland Island. Dick Spink from Washington
State has made an epic effort in solving the mystery of the aviator and her partner.
Spink states he was on a business trip in the Marshall Islands and spoke to a
resident asking if Earhart disappeared on this side of the Island. The resident than
said that she landed on their island and his uncle watched Earhart for two days.
(Osborne)
It is known to be said that Earhart was than kidnapped by the Japanese on
Gardner Island. It sort of makes sense because; still to this day her plane hasnt
been found and no signs of it anywhere. The Japanese had fast ships and could hold
an aircraft on deck. It leads to the reason why her plane would not be found
anywhere. No evidence of debris left by the ocean, even though many people
believe to have seen Earhart near the Island.
Earharts disappearance was very close to the start of WWll, this mustve led
the Japanese to think Earhart and Noonan were sent by the U.S. to investigate
around the area. The Japanese didnt know of Amelia Earhart and took her hostage

To conclude, Earhart was a role model everywhere and was not just seen as a
normal female. She was seen as a brave woman who didnt let any challenges get in
her way nor stop her. Her legacy lives on to this day and she will always be
remembered for the independent, brave and amazing woman she was and soon
enough the mystery of Earhart will be solved. She was a role model to all, because
of her drive and bravery.
