PROJECT TITLES

Choose one of these projects and develop it according to the guidelines

provided

1. Design a self-study package which will help your students of English as a Foreign Language (or
select another language of your choice) to improve their reading skills. This package will lead to the
assessment of reading skills at level B1 of the CEF. Guidelines for the project documentation are
included.

2. Design a self-study package which will help your students of English as a Foreign Language (or
select another language of your choice) to improve their writing skills. This package will lead to the
assessment of writing skills at level B1 of the CEF. Guidelines for the project documentation are
included.

3. You have just been assigned the task of setting up an advisory service within your institution with a
particular focus on students learning EFL for specific purposes (e.g. economics, science, and
engineering). You decide to prepare a ‘learner kit’ which can introduce students to self-study and
autonomous language learning. As part of the way to ensure wider outreach you are planning an
online dimension of the advising service too. Discuss what the kit will include, how it will be introduced
to students and what type of online and face-to-face elements will the kit include.

4. You have just been assigned the task of setting up an advisory service within your institution with a
particular focus on staff training. You decide to prepare an ‘adviser kit’ which can introduce new staff
to the key principles and principle activities as language learning advisers/counsellors. Discuss what
the kit will include, how it will be introduced to the teaching staff involved and if and what type of
online and face-to-face elements might the kit include.

5. You have just been assigned the task of setting up an online language learning programme. You
decide to ensure that the course is supportive of the concept of learning community. Provide a sample
of a session within the programme. Discuss what the programme will include, how it will be introduced
to students, what features will be supportive of the notion of learning community.
