humanvoice.Whileotherformsofrecordingmediahaveexisteduntiltheinventionofthe
gramophone,theaccuraterecordingofthehumanvoicehasadistinctcharacteristicof
intimacyandpersonality.Astheworldbeginstointeractwithtechnologyandsound,the
voicethroughmachinerybecomesanauthoritativefigureasMussoliniandthefascistparty
takecontrolofItaly.Therelationshipbetweenthepersonandthevoicetransformsasthey
listentoIlDuce'sspeechesthroughloudspeakersandovertheradio.Atthesametime,the
telephonealsoentersthemodernhouseholdasanothersourceofvoicethroughmachinery.
Socialbarriersarebeingbrokendown,andthetraditionofhowpeoplecommunicateare
quicklyshifted.WhatIfoundmostinterestingwasthedevelopmentofcinemaunderfascism
