Materials needed: -Ball that will extend and shrink
-Object to hide
Anticipatory setting: Playing the minigame and game
Opening:
1. Objective: Learn the difference in volumes high and low specifically
2. Relevancy: Helps students learn difference between volumes and how it is not
the same as pitch
Instructional Input: First the teacher will tell students the importance of volume and how it gets
confused with pitch in everyday life. After that teacher will teach students the song that goes
with the game. After students have learned the song then the teacher will play a minigame with
students that involves a ball that can extend and shrink in size. Students will continuously sing
the song when teacher makes the ball students will sing the song softly when teacher makes
the ball big students sing the song loud. After students play the minigame students will then play
the actual game.
Modeling: Teacher will teach importance in difference in volume & teach students the song to
play game. Then play mini game to help students understand
Guided Practice: Teacher will sing song and play game with them at first
Independent Practice: Student will play game one student at a time will hide the object and
another student will try to find it. Once hidden the other students will sing louder once student
finding object is near the hidden object and softer when further away.
Assessment: Find the object with the help from other students.
Closure: Teacher will go over the meaning of volume, the difference in volumes, and why it gets
confused.
