We were making a poster to give to the choir at our school to let thank
them for singing for the class. We were having the kids put their hands on
a stamp pad and put their hand prints and names on the poster board. I
told Andrew what we were doing and he said that he didnt want to. I said
that he didnt have to put his handprint and that he could just put his name.
He said okay to that but when we went to put it on the poster board he
decided that he didnt want to do it. So what happened was that in the end
he didnt get to put his name on the paper. I understood that he didnt want
to put his hand in the ink, but in the end wasnt able to be involved with
what the other kids were doing.

Today we had the class playing out in the commons for large motor. While
some of the children were riding bikes or running around Andrew was either
chasing the teachers or telling the other kids when to stop what they were
doing and when they could go again. You could tell that he was having fun
and enjoying himself with the games that he made up by himself.

Math

One of the math centers that we had the kids do was sort
different objects by what shape they were and then we had them
count out certain amounts of those shapes. Andrew did very well
in counting out the right amount and had no trouble classifying
the different shapes.

Langu
age

This year we had a lot of different language centers, from learning

different letters and what sounds they make, to reading books
and answering questions about what the book was about. In one
center the kids were learning about the letter E and what sound it
made, Andrew did really well in this center being able to tell what
different words started with E.

When Andrew came
up with his game
where he was in pixie
hollow it started off
with it just being
himself. Over time
some of the other kids
in the class wanted to
join in and play. He let
everyone who wanted
to join and never
excluded any of others
from playing the game.

We were playing out in the commons for large motor, all the kids were
running around or riding on the bikes and scooters. Andrew was just
standing around and when I went to ask him if he wanted a ball like he
usually does he said no, I then asked him what he wanted to play with and
he pointed to one of the scooters which I have never seen him play with
before, but told them that he could have it next if he waited for his turn. He
waited his turn and when Mason K. was done with his turn he got on the
scooter and started to ride around and have fun. This was the first time I
personally ever saw Andrew show interest in any of the bikes or scooters.

Andrew likes to play
with the play kitchen
and food and one day
like usual he was
playing by himself and I was watching some of the other children by the
sand table. Andrew came up to me and offered me a piece of the play food
and asked him if this was for me and he said yes. He went back to the play
kitchen and continued to play, I followed him over and he then pretended to
cook and give me the food that he was cooking. I didnt ask him to do it, he
made the decision all by himself.

We were using the IPads for one of
the centers and we were taking
pictures of them making the letter K
with their bodies. He really didnt
seem to have fun doing that part
but when we went back to the
tables to wait for the other groups to
be done with their centers I was
taking pictures of them making
funny faces and he really got into it
and was having fun with the others.

During large motor we were outside and Andrew started making up his own
game where he was in pixie hollow and he had to save the pixie dust from
Captain Hook. Over the next couple of days he got more of the kids in
class to play along with him.

The science center another teacher
and I had prepared is that we made
salt dough and the children were supposed to pat it out and make dinosaur
fossils with plastic dinosaurs and placing it in the dough.
When it came time for Andrew to flatten this out he just shook his head to
say no. I asked him if he didnt want to touch it at all and said yes to that.
What I ended up doing was using his dough as an example for the other
kids at the table and letting him use that one to put his dinosaur in.

Techno
logy

Andrew enjoys learning about and using new technology. When we

introduced the kids to the osmos for the IPads in one of our
centers, Andrew really seemed interested in playing and trying all the
different options for the device.

Art

For one of the centers one of the teachers had the kids make lion masks
for L week. Andrew really enjoyed this center like, and he even let us take
a picture of him pretending to be a lion with the new mask he made by
himself.

Physic

Health

Physical health centers can vary from being sitting the kids down and
teaching them what foods are good or bad for you, to getting them up and
being active. Andrew seems to be interested and engaged no matter what
approach we take in teaching the kids.

For a science center this year one of the teachers decided to make an
ocean in a bottle using little water bottles, oil, and food coloring. Andrew
seemed to really enjoy doing this center where he was able to help out and
ask any questions that he had.

For dinosaur week are science experiment was making

fossils and teaching them how they were made.
Andrew showed interest in what we were learning but
didnt show any when it came to the participation part.
But when asked
questions about
the information we
gave him he did
answer and told
us what he knew
and thought.

In class one of the teachers planted seeds of a

large group activity. Over the past few weeks they
have gotten really big,
I was showing
them to Andrew
and asking him
questions about
the plants and
he was coming
up with his own
answers for
what I was
asking him. He
seemed to be
really interested
in what I was
asking him.
