The objective of this project is to educate the student population at
Century High School about the importance of first-aid. We want to provide students with basic first-aid kits and information so that they may be better prepared for an emergency situation. Most students dont have a first-aid kit at home or know where one is, so we want to create a more prepared community at Century. 1. Get in contact with a community sponsor (Kim was ours). Shell be able to guide us throughout the project and advise us. 2. Gain administrative approval from Mrs.Geis by showing our proposal and explaining our plan to her. 3. Survey students about their current awareness about first-aid. We asked multiple grade-levels about their feelings of preparedness when it comes to first-aid. We also asked if they know where a kit is located or if they have one in their home. 4. Decide what we want to include in our kits. What is really necessary in a basic kit and what we can afford financially. 5. Order materials; preferably from a wholesale medical company online, to get the best value. 6. Get permission from administration to use the commons area/tables. Set a date/s for the project to take place. 7. Make informational fliers that include how to use materials as well as emergency contact information. 8. Bring all materials to school and engage students in making first-aid kits. We do this during both lunches for two days. 9. Successfully create a more aware community.
