Time

1520 minutes

Number of students Any

Before class

Photocopy enough worksheets for each student in your class.

Procedure
1 Ask students the following questions:
Have you ever lived with anybody apart from your family?
Does living with people create any problems? What kind?
Are men or women easier to live with? Why?
Give out the worksheets and preteach any new vocabulary (take away food/style of
dress/complain/annoying/tidy). Organise students into pairs and tell them to take
it in turns to interview each other, making brief notes in the Partner column.

2 When they have finished discussing the questions, ask them to decide if they would
make good flatmates. Get feedback on the activity by asking who would make good
flatmates.
