What are colours

Waves of light
Different wavelenghts
In white light they all are tight
together,
so we cant see
all of them
separate

What are colours?

Light is a type of energy
It is a form ofelectromagnetic
radiationof awavelengthwhich can
be detected by the humaneye.
Also a small part of
theelectromagnetic spectrumgiven
off by
stars like thesun.

What are colours?

Each wave has awavelengthor
frequency.
The human eye sees each wavelength as a
differentcolor.
Rainbow show us the whole visible light spectrum
Wavelengths below the frequency of red are
calledinfrared, and higher than of violet are
calledultraviolet.

How can we see them

People think of objects as having color.
Scientist explain this because
themoleculesthat make up the object
absorb certain light waves, leaving the
other light waves to bounce off.
The human eye sees the wavelengths
of all of the light that was absorbed,
and the combination of those leaves
the brain with the impression of a color

How can we see them?

We have three types of receptors in
our eye
One is simulated more by green
light, one by blue light and one by
red light
The brain combines the information
from each type of receptor

Additive and subtractive colours

The additive colours are used by
something giving light

The subtractive colours are used if light is

given by another source of light
