PROJECT PROPOSAL
Guidance:
For your Project Proposal, you must provide an outline brief of your Final Major Project. Where the
brief is set by your tutor, or where you are working on a group brief (with other Learners), please
make sure that you cover how you will respond individually to the brief and/or your individual
responsibilities/ contribution to the work of the group.
Your Project Proposal must be produced as a focused outline brief (leave the sub headings in
place and put your content beneath):
Section 1:
i.
Working Title or Theme of Final Major Project
An abandoned space ship in which you must traverse and collect video tapes to figure out
what happened to the original crew and fight off whatever threat you may face.
ii.
What you will work towards producing
I will be working towards a 2D science fiction game. The main focus will be the aesthetics and
the world behind the game. There will be little coding involved which means the character will
be limited to jogging through the environment and will also have a limited interaction tree
which will involve picking up items and using them e.g. weapons and healing items. There will
also be some dialogue as this is one of the aspects of the game.

Section 2:
i.
Ideas and research sources (you must include a short list of research sources and
bibliography texts). This list can be attached as an appendix.
The inspiration for my project comes from Bastion and Transistor which are both made by
Supergiant Games and Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel by Micro Fort and 14 East.
These are 2D isometric games with an apocalyptic undertone. I also looked at Monument
Valley which has a very simple geometric aesthetic which is also very vivid.

Section 3:
i.
Media form and technologies
Some of the media forms and technologies I will be using are Photoshop, Microsoft Word,
Gimp, Paint Tool SAI and Unity. The work I do for the game will be posted as regular updates
on Weebly which will serve as an online portfolio. I will also be spending time in Audacity.
ii. Timescales (an action plan is essential)
The majority of my time on this project will be focused in Photoshop/Gimp/Paint Tool SAI and
in my sketchbook as this is the main focus of my skills. Although I will be spending some time
in Unity to make my project playable and in Audacity for the production and refinement of the
audio for the game.

Section 4:
i.
Proposed method of evaluation (how you will review your FMP in critical and analytical
ways self and peer review, tutorials, etc)
I have several methods of evaluations in mind such as online surveys, alpha and beta tests,
and having my tutor look over my progress at regular intervals. This will help me to keep up
the quality of my artwork and also help keep up the standard of the story.
ii. How the evidence produced relates to the assessment criteria
By picking the artist pathway I have to include an interactive element which would be the
walking/ and item interaction with a possibility of several minimal conversations. I will also
have to produce an environment in which the interactive element will be played in. I will also
need to produce a lot of concept art to support my interactive element and environment.
