Max X Stress = 4.27+002 @ Nd 61

Max X Stress = 1.14+002 @ Nd 26

Max X Stress = 4.27+002 @ Nd 6

DISCUSSION:
Based on the results, stress tensor at At Z2 (XX) shows that the maximum fringe
is 4.27+002 @ Nd 61, while minimum fringe is 7.94+00 @ Nd 75. For second result;
referring to stress sensor at X component for At Z2 shows that the maximum fringe is
1.14+002 @ Nd 26 and the minimum fringe is -8.22+001 @ Nd 49.By default , MSC
Nastran presents elemental stress result in the element coordinate system. For fringe
option , MSC Patran takes the MSC Nastran results and plots them as it is. For quick plot
option , MSC Patran automatically transform the stress into the basic coordinate system
first before plotting them.
Therefore for result 3; the stress tensor for X component at At Z2 shows that the
maximum fringe is 4.27+002 @ Nd 61 while the minimum fringe is -7.94+000 @ Nd 7.

CONCLUSION:

Finally, at the end of this lab session, I was able to achieve the objectives by building the
tension coupon geometry. Besides that, I am able to control the meshing process by using
the techniques discussed in the class. The comparison between FEA stress result and
theoretical result shows that the difference is very small and this may due to some entry
problem or meshing problems.
