NOIDA, the industrial citadel of Uttar Pradesh, was established under the U.P. Industrial
Area Development Act in 1976. Noida is bounded by the river Yamuna and the city of
Delhi in the west and the south-west, National Highway 24 and the city of Ghaziabad in the
north, river Hindon and Greater Noida Area in the east, and the confluence of Yamuna and
Hindon in the south. Connaught Place, the foremost commercial district of Delhi, lies
merely 15 Km from the centre of Noida City.
The New Okhla Industrial Area, which is analogous to the planning Area/Notified Area of
Noida city falls entirely within the newly carved district of Gautam Buddha Nagar. It
covers 80 revenue villages of which 65 villages lie in Dadri Tehsil (formerly in the district
of Ghaziabad) and 15 villages in Sikandrabad Tehsil (formerly in the district of
Bulandshahar) It is located in close proximity to the metropolitan city of Delhi and lies
along the eastern and south-eastern boundaries of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. It
falls within the Delhi Metropolitan Area (DMA) and for this reason the city of Noida
enjoys the status of a DMA town within the policy framework of the Regional Plan of the
National Capital Region. The area also forms part of the U.P Sub-region of NCR.
The city is also famous for its wide roads, excellent maintenance and modern lifestyle.
Noida, short for the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority, is a city in India under
the management of the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (also called NOIDA).
Noida came into administrative existence on 17 April 1976 and celebrates 17 April as
"Noida Day". The latitude and longitude of NOIDA township are 28 2N and 70 30 E
respectively. As per provisional reports of Census India, population of Noida in 2011 is
642,381. The Draft Regional Plan for the NCR 2021 assigns the population of 12 lakhs
