Introduction

SAARC Introduction
SAARC is an acronym of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation is an economic
and political organization of eight South Asian countries.
Founded in 8 December, 1985.

SAARC Secretariat is based in Kathmandu, Nepal and current Secretaries general of SAARC
is Arjun Bahadur Thapa who is Nepali.
If SAARC countries are combined and considered as one country then SAARC cover 3% of
total world area and have 21% of total population.
SAARC will be in number first in terms of population surprising china by 1.6 Billion.
(International Monetary Fund, 2014)
Combined economy GDP at current price worth $2.370 trillion.

Member States
There are eight members of SAARC. All these members are
from South Asia. Considerably all South Asian countries are
part of this organization. Most new member being
Afghanistan added in SAARC on April 2007.
