PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
Next week will mark the official end of term one as well as the countdown to our Christmas concert. As I
read and sign all the report cards I am pleased to note the progress they are making. Please look carefully
at the teacher suggestions for how to support your childs learning at home.
One important factor to your childs learning is simply getting here on time and ready to learn. Of the 215
students at our school, 95 have no late arrivals this year. As promised, they will be invited to a no tardy
party in the New Year. I will host one such party at the end of each term. I hope to have ALL children
attend.
Please join us at the upcoming Christmas concert. It is wonderful to be able to gather together to
celebrate, and sharing the holiday with children is always very special indeed. I am looking forward to this
and the rest of our celebrations.

THE BRAGGIN DRAGON

Our students make us so proud! Recently we received compliments regarding the behavior of our
students on two occasions:

Mr. Shavers class impressed a Teacher On Call who was in for Mr. Shaver one day recently.
She made the comment at the end of her day that Mr. Shavers class was a lot of fun and I
hope to come back some day. Thank you Division 4 for showing your best behavior and
willingness to learn for this Teacher On Call.
Also, Miss Espins class received compliments on their good behavior while on a field trip to
Fort Langley recently. Field trips are made possible by good behavior. Well done Division 9
Kindergarten students!

Do you attend the Breakfast Program? - IMPORTANT REMINDER

The Breakfast Program at Douglas Park is run by a wonderful group of
volunteers who donate their time each morning to come to Douglas Park to
prepare a nutritious breakfast for you. In return you are to treat the
volunteers with respect and follow their rules. This will ensure that the
program runs smoothly and a pleasant atmosphere is experienced by everyone!
Lets start our morning off on the right foot!

CHRISTMAS HAMPERS

FREE Christmas Tree FIRST COME FIRST SERVE

Interested in receiving a free, live Christmas tree and hotdog
lunch for your family this Sunday (Dec 6) between 11-3:00 PM
from Remax (across from Superstore)? One of our volunteers
has provided this generous donation. Let the office know if
you would be interested and we will arrange for the voucher
to be dropped off at the office. The only requirement is that
you must be able to pick up and deliver the tree.

Can We Send Items with Nuts to School?

Yes students can now bring items containing nuts
to school for themselves but there is strictly no
sharing of food with other students. This is
because we do have a student with a severe nut
allergy; however, this student has to eat the nuts
in order to trigger an allergic reaction.
CAUTION: Snacks that are brought to school
to share MUST be nut free!

Christmas Hampers will be

distributed by the Langley
Christmas Bureau. The
Christmas Bureau is located at
#10 19638 Fraser Highway,
Phone: 604.530.3001.

Latex Allergy Dismissed!

Good news! Our student with
the life threatening allergy to
latex received the wonderful
news that she is no longer
allergic to latex. This means
balloons are free to fly at
Douglas Park once again.

NIT IT IN THE BUD

We have had a few cases of
lice in the school recently.
Please help us keep this under
control by checking your
child(ren) regularly.

MOVIE FEST
Christmas Movie Fest (happening on
Friday, Dec 18) permission forms will
be coming home soon. Please watch
for them and get them signed and
back to school as soon as possible.

COMFORT KITS
Have you returned your
comfort kit to your teacher
yet? If not please assemble
and bring back to your
teacher as soon as possible so
it is available in your
classroom should the need
arise.

INFORMATION ABOUT SCHOOL STATUS DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER

In the event of an unscheduled school closure caused by snow, emergency, or extraordinary circumstances
an alert announcing the affected schools will display at the top of the district website. Current information
on school closures or threats of closures due to external conditions is also available at: 604-532-1453.
Decisions about school schedules and bus route changes are almost always made in the early morning before
school. This information is communicated immediately, generally before 6:30 AM. The final decision to send
students to school resides with parents since they know the road and weather conditions in their respective
areas. See more at: https://www.sd35.bc.ca/news-events/school-status-alerts/#sthash.DVBbb0tt.dpuf

We invite parents/caregivers who have children ages 3 and 4 to come to our school for creative story
