READ THE GUIDELINES CAREFULLY

First Semester Guidelines


1. Progress Report (Date: 16 December 2015, Wednesday)
1.1. Format
1.1.1. Length: ~15 pages, font 12 Times New Roman, single column, single spacing, 1 margin
1.1.2. Contents
1.1.2.1.
Introduction background of your research topic and give the problem
statement.
1.1.2.2.
Motivation why is it important to solve this problem? Any existing
solutions? The pros and cons of these solutions. Why need further work?
1.1.2.3.
Objective(s) what do you want to achieve in your project?
1.1.2.4.
Research Methodology how and what to do to achieve your objective(s)?
1.1.2.5.
Your work done so far in the first semester (in detail) report only your
original work and results, not results from other papers.
1.1.2.6.
Planning for the second semester (Gantt Chart)
1.1.2.7.
References: include only relevant references, from reliable sources
1.2. Submission
1.2.1. Submit 3 copies of report to the General Office, Department of Electrical Engineering,
between 9am to 12pm on 16/12/2015 (Wednesday).
1.2.2. LATE SUBMISSION will be PUNISHED.
1.2.3. Submit all 3 reports to the box labeled with your supervisor name.
1.2.4. Sign the submission form.

2. Presentation (Date: 23 December 2015, Wednesday)


2.1. Before the presentation
2.1.1. Check your presentation schedule
2.1.2. Print out the attendance form (only one person) from spectrum
(<FYP_PresentationAttendance.pdf>)
2.1.3. Prepare your presentation slides
2.1.3.1.
Only includes important information, especially your original work
2.1.3.2.
It is advisable not exceeding 15 slides.
2.1.4. Arrive at the presentation venue at least 15 minutes before the session starts, and
sign the attendance form (one copy per session).
2.1.5. Copy the presentation slide to a single computer and make sure the projector is
working.
2.1.6. Select a time-keeper
2.1.7. If the moderator(s) has not arrived 5 min before the session, call the JKE office (79675205).
2.2. During the presentation
2.2.1. Do not exceed the allocated time (~ 10 min).
2.2.2. Ensure enough time for Q&A (~5 min).
2.2.3. Do not demonstrate your hardware/software during the presentation.

2.2.4. If the moderators still have questions to ask after the time is up, it should be done
after the whole session is finished.
2.2.5.The moderator(s) can request for re-presentation, further Q&A, demonstration, etc
after the whole session is over.
2.3. After the presentation
2.3.1. Stay until the whole session is over.
2.3.2. Obtain the moderators signatures in the attendance form.
2.3.3. (Time-keeper) Submit the attendance form to the General Office, Department of
Electrical Engineering.
