WHAT ARE ELECTRONS?
 Electrons are subatomic particles carrying a
negative electric charge.
 Electrons have a mass that is approximately
1/1836 that of protons.
 No two electrons can occupy the same
quantum state, in accordance with the Pauli
exclusion principle.
 Electrons contribute less than 0.06% to an
atom's total mass.

WHAT ARE ATOMIC NUMBERS?
 Atomic numbers are also called proton
numbers.
 Atomic number is the number of protons
found in the nucleus of an atom and
therefore identical to the charge number of
the nucleus.
 It is conventionally represented by the
symbol Z.
