 1944-Aditya vikram Birla was born in Calcutta

1947- G.D Birla started ,Grasim Industries Limited (GIL), a flagship company of
the Aditya Birla Group was incorporated in 1947. manufacturing of viscose staple
fibre (VSF)

1953 - Hindalco is the flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, production of
aluminium

1954 - Birla Cellulose It is a world leader in viscose staple fibre (VSF). Its
production is spread across six countries, viz. Canada, Thailand, India, Indonesia,
& China.
1958- Hindalco Industries is the largest producer of
aluminium in the country.

1965-Eastern Spinning Mills in Kolkata quickly became a

success, putting the group's sinking rayon and textile business

1969- Birla set up Indo-Thai Synthetics Company Ltd, the

group's first overseas company

1973- Established P.T. Elegant Textiles to manufacture spun

yarn.

1978- Thai Carbon Black, the Group's first carbon black

company was incorporated

1982 - Indo Bharat Rayon was established, and first exported

Viscose Staple Fibre to Indonesia

1983 -Ghanshyam Das Birla died

1989 - Mutual Fund Birla Sun Life Asset Management
Company Ltd

1995- vikram Birla died on October the 1st of October 1995

Kumar Mangalam Birla- earned an MBA from the London

Business School

 1997 - Birla AT&T, a joint venture between the Aditya Birla

Group (51 per cent) and AT&T (49 per cent), is licensed to
provide cellular services in Gujarat
