    Over the last five years, ACT participation in NYC has tripled while performance has improved in every subject area. NYC students' gains have been greater than their peers in New York State and the nation. Specifically, ACT participation increased 228% in NYC compared to 71.7% in New York State and 32.3% nationally. Additionally, average scores improved in all subject areas for NYC students, with gains of 7.5% to 10.3% compared to smaller gains for New York State and national students.
