Lesson Feedback Two; Martin Caley

You improved throughout the session which I was delighted about, I was very impressed
with the amount you progressed in 45 minutes.

Following the discussions from the lessons, you highlighted that you are a “handsy” golfer
which is great so we now have to build an efficient golf swing where we can utilise the
hands!

It is essential that if you have active arms and hands in the golf swing that you have width,
this will give the hands room to operate in and be fully released during impact!

Swing Technique

During the backswing, the “width” is created by extending your left arm at the “9 o’clock”
pitching position and then extending the arm at the top of the backswing just as we
discussed during the lesson.

Now in the downswing the speed is generated by the arms and the hands and we have to
attack the ball from the inside, just as we practiced. This is the club exits to the right to
generate high club head speed and also create extra room to release the golf club.
Swing Drill

 Place a ball in the peripheral vision of your right eye online with your feet alignment
about a club length’s distance from your right foot.
 Swing up to the top extending your left arm.
 In the downswing, imagine the club head striking down on the golf ball with a lot of
power.
 This should then result in the club attacking from the inside and you should generate
the feeling of the club exiting right when you perform the swing correctly.

This will feel different ay you previously swung the club from an out-to-in direction with the
club being swung across your body.

Conduct the practice drill for 30 – 45 minutes and then hit ten or so normal shots without
training aids to end the session.

Keep up the hard work!
