Tom,

Considering you had not played for a few weeks due to the weather, you
picked up the changes quickly which I was delighted with.

Just to recap on the changes we made during the session which will help
you have a more efficient golf swing!

Grip

The left hand should be position with two

knuckles showing and a v is created which
points between the sternum and right
shoulder, ideally pointed at your right year.
This is how the grip should look when you take
your grip. You can clear see the two knuckles on the left
hand. Also note the V’s on the right and left hand
pointing towards the right ear.

Weight Transfer
Transferring weight to the right side (loading the right side) is essential in
creating power and distance in the golf swing and is an area we need to
work on. This will help us build an efficient golf swing and once you have
grasped the technique, you will find it effortless to hit the golf ball.
Swing Drills
• Rotation Drill
○ Place a shaft across your chest with your arms crossed
holding it in place as you did in the lesson

○ Stand to the golf ball with your left foot withdrawn and your
right foot opposite the golf ball

○ Rotate your shoulders so that your back faces the target and
feel the weight on your right leg

○ Then rotate your shoulders, fully releasing them towards the

target and emphasise the weight transfer from right to left
leg.

○ Do this drill 5 times, then hit 1 golf shot with a normal stance

• Half Swing Drill

○ With a Pw, perform the 9 – 3 pitching position

○ Stand to the golf ball with your left foot withdrawn and your
right foot opposite the golf ball as you did in the lesson

○ Perform the swing smoothly and controlled as this is a big

change with the weight now being successfully transferred to
the right side.

○ Perform 5 shots, then hit 1 golf shot with a normal stance

If you can, practice these exercises before our next session and then we
can build on this together next week.

Keep up the hard work, Simon
