Balanced Budget Rally is TOMORROW

(Saturday) 12-2!

Jump in guys, the water's great!

A very small group of us have put it on the line to make this happen, and our very own Chris
Davis has invested THOUSANDS of his own $$$ (not to mention hours) to make this happen,
and now we need your support. We have a chance to show the national press (they are
coming) and each other, that we are ACTIVISTS and not just protesters - we took a stand and
need to take this first big step for fiscal sanity. It is also a chance to enjoy something
important with each other, our kids (it is totally family-friendly) and the nation.

Come to the VIP reception with speakers, professional performers and candidates at 11am for
just $50; worth every dollar. Or just show up for the rally at noon (leave time to park and walk
a short distance, see the link below for a map), grab the kids and urge your Friends and
Neighbors to jump in the car and come on down for a great time. The candidates have all
confirmed, though they are not speaking they will be there. How about you?

We flew in Krista Branch from Tulsa to perform at this event - I saw her in person at the Glenn
Beck program (she was the surprise musical guest) in Salt Lake City last month, and she is
terrific! Did I mention she is a patriot and also an American Idol Finalist?!?! (google her).

Government spending is so out of control that we are stealing from our children and
grandchildren to satisfy our debt addiction today. Our future is foreshadowed by current riots
and destruction in other countries. Stop this madness by supporting constitutional restrictions
on reckless government spending and debt. Unite now to leave a legacy of freedom and
opportunity for our children and future generations. This organization, started by our very Own
Chris Davis, is one we must and will support wholeheartedly.

Join us for the rally, bring a picnic basket, blanket and enjoy the terrific music and speakers
including Congressman Mike Coffman, Bob Beauprez, Jeff Crank, State Director for Americans
For Prosperity, Dick Poole, Amy Oliver and others. Video participants include Newt Gingrich
(and see the website for his invitation and plea to support this cause!), Governor Rick Perry,
Jason Chaffetz and more. In addition to Jake Schroeder and the Band Square One, enjoy the
American Idol Finalist and genuine patriot Krista Branch as she sings her huge hit "I Am
America" live and in person. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0heL2Czeraw . Krista was a
surprise guest at Glenn Beck's American Revival in Salt Lake City, she was absolutely
wonderful.

Friends,
The primaries are over, and not all of our candidates were victors. However, the grassroots
was undeniably a powerful force on the conservative side. As for the governor's race, Dan
Maes is the clear winner, and it’s long past time for discipline and unity among
Conservatives, Republicans, grassroots and everyone who wants to see Colorado return to
Constitutional principles. Inform yourself by visiting his website:
http://www.danmaes.com/. We must not listen to the media’s spin, we need our own
information.
Whatever issues you may have with Dan Maes, consider the issues you’ll have with John
Hickenlooper as Governor, an enthusiastic supporter of the Obama agenda. If we fight each
other, only our opponents win. Read the following concession letter from Scott
McInnis, these are important words to remember from now until November. This is
our opportunity to return power to those who deserve it: The People!

STATEMENT BY SCOTT MCINNIS

"This morning I called Dan Maes and congratulated him on his victory. I told
him that the passion and energy that he and his supporters brought to the primary
campaign infused great enthusiasm and optimism into the political process. I
also told him that since he is now the Republican nominee, I stand with him.

"I thank every Colorado Republican who voted for me. While there are no silver
medals for placing second in politics, the prize I take from this race is the
support of men and women who worked tirelessly for a better future for
Colorado. To every person who knocked on a door, made a phone call, attended
a rally, put a bumper sticker on a car or stuck a yard sign on a lawn, Lori and I
and our family thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

"Lori and I also thank the dedicated, tireless team of professionals at our
campaign headquarters who lived and breathed this cause seven days a week.

"While I am of course disappointed in the outcome of this race, the deep

challenges facing our state ? and the starkly different visions for solving those
challenges ? are the same this morning as they were yesterday.

"I am firmly convinced that Colorado taxpayers and citizens can't afford a repeat
of four years of bigger government, higher taxes and anti-jobs policies. That the
Denver Mayor -- a nice man with a flawed vision -- will pursue this Democrat
agenda is indisputable.

"Other candidates, up and down the ticket, will now make this case to Colorado,
but it is absolutely vital that the next 80-plus days be spent focusing the people
of our state on the specific plans, policies and proposals that the Democrats bring
to the table. These important facts have been drowned out and overlooked during
the primary. They can be no longer

"I very respectfully ask my supporters, as well as those who backed Dan Maes
and are considering backing Tom Tancredo to come together quickly around the
basic, bedrock ideas that unite us as Republicans. The stakes for Colorado are
too great for the focus to be on anything but what is best for the state we all
love."

Colorado Legislature: Friend or Foe?

A report released last week by the Colorado Union of Taxpayers (CUT) shows which
legislators have genuinely taxpayer-friendly voting records. The CUT annual scorecard
is based on 25 key bills which were voted on by the full House and the full Senate.
This year, six Senators scored a perfect 100, earning them the title "Taxpayer
Champions: Bill Cadman, Keith King, Mike Kopp, Scott Renfroe, Mark Scheffel, and
David Schultheis. Rep. Kevin Lundberg also earned the Taxpayer Champion title, with a
perfect voting record.
The highest scoring Democrats were Senator Gail Swartz (44%) and Representative
Wesley McKinley (50%) who, to their credit, bucked their party leadership and sided
with the taxpayers about half the time. The lowest-scoring Republicans were Senator
Ken Kester (63%) and Representative Tom Massey (71%).
The 12-page CUT newsletter shows every key vote for every state legislator, and
explains each of the 25 bills which were rated. The newsletter is available free on CUT's

website: www.coloradotaxpayer.org.

OUR WEBSITE:
We are so blessed to have the help of not one but two members, Rob Spees and Maralee
Hill to develop the website. Please visit it often, send me your suggestions for articles,
issues, problems or just plain feedback, and I will make sure Rob & Maralee get in touch
with you. Note also a link to subscribe to this newsletter on the website (right hand

MEETINGS

In addition to the Rally on August 21st (see above, and please join us!), we are also
planning a late October program (pre-election) at Koelbel Library featuring Mike Coffman
and many others - stay tuned. We are also putting together a September meeting, details
TBA. Please contact me with ideas for these or other meetings, or if you would like to help
with the planning and organizing. I also trust we are all busy supporting the candidates of
your choice with both TIME and MONEY, even if it is only $5 here and there. IT
MATTERS!!!!!!

Governor Poll

Our statewide 9-12 Chair is asking each 9-12 group to poll members (that's you!) on your
preference for governor, not including the Democratic Candidate who is unopposed. The
other Candidates (and possible Candidates) are:

 Scott McInnis
 Dan Maes
 Tom Tancredo

Please Vote ASAP as this information will go to people

who are making important decisions as we speak (use
the "reply" button, just one word will do -McInnis,
Maes or Tancredo).

If you have not yet heard about Tom Tancredo's statement today, it reads as follows
(please note I do not endorse its contents):
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STATEMENT BY TOM TANCREDO
CONTACT : Jen Raiffie (720) 987-7620
Events of the past two weeks have developed in such a way as to create an unprecedented
situation in the race for Governor of Colorado. The two candidates vying for the Republican
nomination have, in my opinion, lost any hope of carrying out a successful campaign.
This situation is unacceptable to me, and I am sure, to thousands of other Colorado
Republicans, Independents and other Colorado voters whose hopes for a change to a
smaller and fiscally responsible government in Colorado in November now seem dashed.
To achieve this goal the winner of the August Republican primary must step down and allow
the Party to appoint a viable replacement candidate to face John Hickenlooper and the
Obama-Pelosi smear machine. It is up to the Party to pick that replacement except that it is
imperative he or she be a solid conservative with a chance to win the general election in
November.
There are, because of time and party registration constraints imposed by state election laws
and party rules, very few other options open to those Coloradans who seek a solution to
this dilemma.
I, for one, will do what is necessary within those limitations to avoid the electoral disaster
looming on the horizon. That disaster would not be limited to the loss of the Governor’s
race, but of many "down ticket" races. The grass roots electorate would lack any incentive
to get to the polls.
Therefore, today I am asking for a public commitment from both Scott McInnis and Dan
Maes that they will do what is right for the state of Colorado. Regardless of the outcome of
the Primary election on August 10, on August 11 the winner must agree to remove himself
from consideration if polling on that date shows that he is losing the race for Governor. If
either or both choose to ignore this request, and do not make a public commitment to this
end no later than noon on Monday, July 26, I will announce on that day that I will seek the
nomination of the American Constitution Party for Governor of Colorado.
If I run, I will do so to the best of my ability and will do so through the November election.
A great deal needs to be done for any candidate to put together a competitive campaign. Of
course that includes raising the money necessary for such a race. Every hour of delay
makes that a more difficult task.
This decision is completely in the hands of Dan Maes and Scott McInnis.
Again, Please use the "reply" button and just one word will do - McInnis,
Maes or Tancredo.

I have much to say about the governor's race, the extraordinary and very
troubling events of late, and the reactions so far of the GOP and the
grassroots. I do not, however, wish to have that discussion until after the
poll, since my comments will be uncensored. I also want to tell you
about my trip to Salt Lake City last weekend with 3 amazing Liberty
Ladies for Glenn Beck's final American Revival. It was transformational,
inspiring and important to me personally.

I am also putting together the information for you about the Balanced
Budget Amendment Rally on August 21st (noon to 2pm) for the next
message, featuring Rep. Mike Coffman, Krista Branch ("I Am America"
singer/songwriter, American Idol finalist - and a patriot!) and many,
many other great speakers. Meanwhile, visit
www.americansforbudgetreform.com, (founded by our own Chris Davis) it has
a wealth of information and ways to get involved. He and Mike Coffman
were on the radio talking about it yesterday, and if you listen, you WILL
get excited... News Talk 1310 KFKA

For tonight, please vote and stay tuned for the poll results and lots more in the
next message.

My apologies for so many typos in the last email, and thanks to the many people
who offered to help! I did use spell check, but had a technical glitch, thought the
whole message was lost, and then sent it without realizing the spell check changes
had been lost. My bad...

A BIG THANK YOU TO MARALEE!!! She answered the call and is taking over our
website www.ccd912.blogspot.com. Give her some time, and then we promise it
will be far better and more useful than it ever was on my watch. [I barely know

all]!

You should have received your mail-in ballots for the primary by now. Please do your
homework, talk to people whose opinions you value, or who you know have done their own
research. Get as familiar as you can with the candidates, and if you have questions I am
always happy to answer them. Vote your beliefs, your principles and your conscience, and put
$.61 postage on that big envelope, or drop it off at the clerk & recorder's offices.

Governor Poll Results

Many thanks to those of you who voted (roughly 30% of the folks on this email list). The
results of our poll and of the Liberty Groups in our Statewide Coalition were:
CCD 9-12 : Scott McInnis 6% (2/36)
Dan Maes 61%
(22/36)
Tom Tancredo 33% (12/36)

Statewide
Coalition: Scott McInnis 6% (47/754)
Dan Maes 57% (428/754)
Tom Tancredo 34% (259/754)
Other 3% (20/754)
You will come to your own conclusions about these numbers, and about the High
Noon showdown tomorrow between Congressman Tancredo and the Republican
Candidates. This expresses my conclusions (and thanks Bud for putting this
together) ...

----------
Much has been going on this past week in the Governor's race. I was on a nearly two hour
conference call Friday night with 28 leaders from the Colorado 9-12 Coalition and TEA Party
groups discussing if or how we should respond as a grassroots, non-party movement. I will try
to briefly summarize what we talked about, and the next article reprints an open letter to
Congressman Tancredo that we released to the Press and sent to him in advance.
First, the easy one--Dan Maes. Much has been made of his paying a $17,000 fine for 'false
reporting' to the FEC. Technically, this is true. He had a professional outfit filing these reports
but, for some reason, they let the campaign and amateur volunteers try to fill the gap and get
the reports in on time. Some of the expenses were entered into the wrong column on the
forms. Also, they did not keep full track of the donation limits, which, once exceeded by an
individual must have employer info included. These clerical errors were discovered by a
progressive and a lawyer from Grand Junction, who have made it their duty to 'take down'
conservative and Republican candidates (yeah, that can be different) over the last few election
cycles. Dan Maes immediately admitted to the errors of his staff, paid the fine, and the two
gentlemen from G.J. consider this issue settled.
http://www.denverpost.com/election2010/ci_15595677. No money was misused, and this
same link discussed the pundits' take on Dan's tax returns also just recently released. Should
any of this be a continuing problem for Mr. Maes? You decide.

Scott McInnis has been accused of plagiarism in connection with his work for the Hassan
Family Foundation. Again, this is technically true in that he did not cite the work of others in
contributing to the articles. Rolly Fischer, aged 82 and a family friend of McInnis, literally wrote
the articles (under an agreement where he was paid a few hundred dollars total) and in part
used the work of others. However, McInnis did not tell Fischer he was publishing the articles,
or that he was being paid $300,000 to do so. Similarly, the Hassan Family Foundation made a
statement saying they did not authorize Mr. McInnis to have anyone else do the writing, and
they expected he was to author the articles himself. The candidate prepared a letter to Fischer
to sign in which Mr. Fischer took responsibility for the plagiarism, but Fischer declined to sign.
Fischer told a journalist, reluctantly, that McInnis was not being truthful.
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/24260453/detail.html. Scott McInnis is now working
out a repayment of the $300,000, and he says the case is closed. One 'Ethics' Professor said
this is a very serious problem of plagiarism and another 'Ethics' Professor said it is not, since
politicians do this all the time. Should this be a continuing problem for Scott McInnis? You
decide.

Now for Tom Tancredo. He decided neither primary candidate is able to win in the general
election, and issued an ultimatum that by noon on the 26th (this Monday) they must
immediately withdraw. The vacancy committee of the state Republican party would then pick a
new candidate (presumably Mr. Tancredo). Otherwise, Tom Tancredo will seek to run as a
third party candidate for the American Constitution Party (ACP). The ACP already has a
candidate by the name of Ben Goss, so It is unclear to me how that works. Mr. Tancredo had
once considered running for Governor in the Republican primary, but instead endorsed Scott
McInnis. Backing away from Mr. McInnis may be due to the plagiarism accusations. His
problem with Mr. Maes goes deeper and, according to a conversation I had with Rep.
Tancredo only a few weeks ago, he believes Dan Maes' positions on immigration and certain
comments he made in this regard are not satisfactory. The embedded link,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=st9s7LpjPKc (note this link is to Tom Tancredo speaking at
OUR ELECTION 2010 KICKOFF PROGRAM at Koelbel Library just this past January), as
well as the Open Letter Mr. Tancredo sent by the TEA Party/9-12 movement (below), warning
against third parties and splitting the Republican, should be informative as to Mr. Tancredo's
decision. In short, he is threatening to split the conservative vote, and by so doing in his very
own words (cited above, follow the links), ensure the state will be in the control of the far left for
4 more years. Is this failure to practice what he preaches, and this failure to respect the will of
the People and the process that we in the grassroots have worked within for the past
year a problem for Tom Tancredo going forward? You decide.

We in the grassroots movement have organized. While the Republican party has strayed -- it
has strayed the least from our founding principles, as well as the 9 Principles and 12 Values
that guide us. We have interviewed candidates, attended precinct caucuses, and become
deeply involved in the assemblies. We have made our voices heard within the established
rules and laws and as a result We The People have chosen two candidates for the primary
election. As we mark our recently received ballots, we must evaluate each according to the 9
principles and the 12 values that exist apart from and in greater measure than this one
candidate, and one election.

We cannot let Mr. Tancredo distract us from that for which we have worked for so hard. Many
letters and phone calls have already been sent to Mr. Tancredo and it would not hurt to add
yours. Also, Mr. Dick Wadhams of the state Republican party should be encouraged to halt
any behind the scenes manipulation that might be ensuing, be it by the party or the major
donors trying to pull the strings they can control.

You must not let this dampen your resolve or your enthusiasm for the cause for which we
fight. Have faith, pray for the resolve it will take to reclaim our country, and if you need a little
inspiration, just review your history about the American Revolution, the great generations that
came before us, and the glory of a free and God-loving people and nation. To the extent you
have strong views on the above, I am always pleased to hear from you. I fully appreciate we
will have differences, and a lively debate is, well, fully American.

Open Letter to Tom Tancredo from Colorado

Liberty Groups
(sent this afternoon to Tom Tancredo, and to the Press tonight)
July 25, 2010

Dear Congressman Tancredo:

Many Coloradans and liberty movement individuals respect you for your courage and
honorable service to this state. But, we ask what really has changed, and how your High
Noon ultimatum issued July 22nd reflects the principles and values you have long stood for?
This ultimatum seems out of character and completely contradicts the sage advice you
offered us in an open letter on December 21, 2009 and reiterated again passionately at a
joint 9-12 Project/Tea Party event on January 16, 2010.
We would like to remind you of this particular section of your open letter, which continues
to resonate with us even today:
Yes, over the last decade, many individuals left the Republican Party because
George Bush led the national party to abandon its principles and support several
big government programs. But leaving the party is not the answer. Fighting for
your principles and reshaping the party is the answer.
Throughout our nation's history, third parties have never succeeded in taking
power and running the government. They have sometimes succeeded in pushing a
major party in a new direction, but just as often, they succeeded only in electing
the more liberal candidate after many conservatives waste their votes on a third
party candidate. Remember 1992? Ross Perot never had a chance to be president,
but he did help elect Bill Clinton.
Here in Colorado we have an uphill road in 2010, but the good news is we have
the opportunity for a broad resurgent victory if we work together.
Tom Tancredo
Over 800,000 Coloradans or 33% of likely voters, including almost 550,000 or 64% of likely
Republican voters in our state, have joined the "Tea Party* movement in the past 17
months. We clearly demonstrated at the precinct causes and state assembly a significant
portion of the 9-12 Project, Tea Party and other pro-liberty grassroots individuals have
worked tirelessly for more than a year championing our principles, becoming engaged and
informed, learning the political process, vetting candidates at all levels, and also reshaping
the Colorado Republican Party as you advised. We trusted and listened to you among
others; but, now you do not trust the Republican voters of Colorado to thoughtfully and
logically evaluate the choices before us. You want to impose your personal choice and will
over the will of the people. You are subverting the process and our will. This is the opposite
of the liberty movement and what we are about.
Since your ultimatum, several liberty groups have queried their members and found about
2/3 (66% of 754 responses - over 250 more than used in Rasmussen polls for Colorado) of
the responders to this non-scientific internal survey would not vote for you in the
Governor's race. This does not foretell a conservative victory, but rather an impending
disaster, assuring victory for Mayor Hickenlooper and the liberal agenda in Colorado for at
least four more years. Congressman Tancredo, together our groups strongly urge you to
reconsider, withdraw your ultimatum, stay in the Republican Party, let the process play out
for the Governor's race within the rules already set forth, and continue to help us improve
this party, its candidates, and the process - in other words to trust and respect the newly
awakened, energized and informed voters of Colorado.

CALL THE COLORADO GOP TODAY

303 758-3333 ...

Republicans in the Liberty Movement need to call the CO GOP Today, and let them know
that We The People will choose our nominee for Governor, not some slect set of insiders
who have been choosing for us for too many years. This is about much more than Dan
Maes v. Scott McInnis, this is about elite leadership (who think they know best).

Below I paraphrase what conservative leaders are saying in the various grassroots networks
- it is really important for all of us. The GOP here in Colorado have always had their choice
in candidates, their "anointed" ones. Most of us do not want Scott McInnis to drop out over
the plagiarism and influence peddling charges that have surfaced this past week, and our
expectation is that he won't. But now the Republican leaders are busy deciding who will
replace Scott, rather than uniting behind Dan Maes, the winner at our state assembly! Dan
is your brother, your son, your father and your husband. He's us. One of us. But the
Colorado Republican leaders are apparently threatened by him.

Did you know that we haven't had a primary in the Governor's race for 12 years?? Ask
yourself why that is - why is there no competition? This time We The People have
spoken, and We The People surprised them big time when Dan won at State Assembly!

Enough is enough. Dan can win the primary. He will and can win the hearts of all
Coloradoans. The independents are the big voice in this state and sometimes they go
republican and sometimes they go democrat. This year, they are tired of what has been
happening around our state and in our country. Dan will and can beat Hickenlooper, but
the GOP Leaders are shunning him. We cannot be slient any longer.

The GOP is pushing Scott to step out of the race. It may be in the best interest of the party
becuase the opposing party will surely use this against him if he should win the Republican
Party nomination, and we will surely be under another regime of progressives in this state.
Instead of backing Dan, they are re-structuring their minds to "figure out who they will
replace him with"? What? Why? We have an amazing patriot who has repeatedly run a
good and fair race! He is also the TOP-LINE on the republican ballot! This is unbelievable.
Are they ignoring us, or are they just like our federal government that is governing without
the consent of the people??? They do not take us seriously, they continue to belittle us and
frankly, this good ol' boy network has to end.

Dan Maes is a man of character. He made some silly, stupid clerical errors and owned up to
them. It's done, it's over....He's a conservative. A real leader that can and will change
Colorado. He has been steadfast in this race for more than 16 months. He does not waiver
and has been a consistent voice for the people.

So Let's flood their lines. Whatever your personal views, tell Dick Wadhams, James
Garcia and Michelle Yi at the CO GOP headquarters that we have a voice, and it is way
past time that they listen. Time is short, and our founding principles are the only way
out.

OUR NEXT MEETING: I cannot yet confirm our meeting for this month, things
are changing too quickly. Please stay tuned, and mark your calendars for the
Balanced Budget Amerndment Rally on August 21st (much more to come). Go to
