Introduction:

Procedure: in this experiment we first took a 400mL beaker and added 25mL of NaOH solution
then we diluted this 25ml of NaOH to about 250mL with distilled
Water.Afterwards we mixed with glass stirring rod. We then labeled it an put it to the side for later.
2. next we Weighed a piece of weighing paper to the nearest 0.0001 g on an analytical balance and
Recorded its weight on
our data sheet.
3. We placed about 0.5 g of potassium acid phthalate on the weighing paper. And we recorded the weight
on the data sheet.
4. we then carefully placed potassium acid phthalate in an Erlenmeyer flask and discarded the weighing
paper.
We then added 25mL distilled water and 3 drops of phenolphthalein to the Erlenmeyer flask and stirred to
dissolve the solid.
5. Rinsed and filled a 50mlburet with the NaOH solution
We prepared earlier and purged any air bubbles from the tip of the buret.
6. Record the initial buret reading to the nearest 0.01mL.
7. Titrate the acid solution with NaOH until a pink color just persists.
8. Record the final buret reading to the nearest 0.01mL.
9. Repeat Steps 2-8 for two more samples.
10. Calculate the molarity of the NaOH to the proper number of significant figures.
