Steps to do practicum

“chemical kinetics”

1. Before starting the experiment, the practitioner must know what experiments will be
carried out, in this way the practitioner can read the procedure and learn in advance the
steps in conducting the experiment
2. Make a flowchart
3. Then before entering the laboratory, practitioners and lab assistants must wear a lab coat,
gloves, and nose cover (mask). So that efforts to avoid things that are not desirable when
conducting experiments
4. Listen to the lab assistant's explanation when explaining about the experiments work
procedures you want to do
5. Preparing tools and materials used for experiments
6. 6. Experiment according to the work procedures described earlier by the lab assistant. For
example, an experiment carried out entitled "chemical kinetics" then the steps that must
be taken are :

A. Reaction of KMnO4 with H2C2O4

Measuring 2.5 ml of 0.01 M KMnO4 Insert 2.4 ml of 0.01 M KMnO4 into
the dilution flask

Adding Aquades until the volume of Enter the mixture between KMnO4
KMnO4 becomes 25 ml and Aquades into a beaker
Measure 2.5 ml of 0.5 M H2C2O4 Enter 2.5 ml of H2C2O4 into the
dilution flask

Add the Aquades to the dilution flask The dilution flask contains 25 ml
containing 2.5 ml of 0.5 M H2C2O2 H2C2O4 + Aquades

Take 4 drops of Oxalic Acid and put it Take 2 drops of H2SO4 and mix it
in tube I into tube I which contains 4 drops of
oxalic acid
Test tube 1 contains 4 drops of H2S2O4 Add 1 drop of KMnO4 into tube I
+ 2 drops of H2SO4 and the solution turns clear

Repeat the procedure by adding 1 drop

of KMnO4 for up to 20 drops

B. Effect of concentration I on the reaction rate

Measuring 5 ml of starch solution
using a measuring cup then inserting it
into a 250 ml beaker

Add 10 ml of Na2S2O3 solution cured

with a pipette

Add 25 ml of 0.4 M KI solution 2 Insert 25 ml (NH4) S2O3 into a 150

drops using biuret ml beaker

Measuring the mixture temperature Equates the temperature of 25 ml

(between starch solution + 10 ml (NH4) S2O3 with the mixture
Na2S2O3 + 25 ml KI 0.4 M + 2 drops temperature
of biuret) using a thermometer

Mixing the two solutions until it's Dilute KI 0.4 M as much as 12.5 ml
blue. Then measure the final with distilled water to a volume of 25
temperature of the mixture ml

Repeat the previous procedure by Dilute KI 0.4 M as much as 6.5 ml

changing the concentration of KI to with distilled water to a volume of 25
0.2 M ml
Repeat the previous procedure by
changing the concentration of KI to
0.2 M

7. Write down the data obtained from the experiment on the temporary report that will be
collected to the lab assistant at the end of the experiment
8. After completing the practicum, immediately clean the tools used abd put them in place.
Besides throwing away the remaning ingredients from the experiment to a special trash
can
9. Wash hands thoroughly before exiting the laboratory
10. Make practical report from data that has been written in a temporary report.
