Founded in 2005, The ProportionofBlu is a unique lifestyle brand inspired by the phenomenon of the
Golden Ratio, a naturally reoccurring sequence of measurements and patterns prolific in nature, music,
art, architecture and even our DNA. Denoted as a mathematical constant by the Greek symbol Ø and
correlated to the numerical value of 1.618, informed thinkers from all disciplines believe the Golden
Ratio to be hardwired into our perception of beauty, a kind of universal law that permeates all structures
and forms. For the first time, ProportionofBlu Designers Terrell Wick and Richard Atkins have applied
this unifying mathematical principle to fashion, creating an intricately engineered clothing collection that
is expressly calculated for fit, proportion and beauty.

The ProportionofBlu employs the Golden Ratio in pattern cuts, pocket size and placement, the rise of
trousers, hardware treatments, and in finishing details such as darts and pleats. “The ratio, while quite
complex in principle, translates to a sublime simplicity in clothing,” says ProportionofBlu Co-designer
Richard Atkins. “Optical illusions created by playing with the focal point of the ratio add visual appeal to
the garment and the harmonious proportions in cut are ergonomically aligned to the body.” Co-designer
Terrell Wick adds the universality of the ratio and the less-is-more quality that it represents to the
technical aspects of its application. “There exists all possibilities and contradictions within the ratio,” says
Wick, “but eventually we end up with a subtle balance between the symmetry and asymmetry, which
makes for a natural application to clothing design.”

It is the beauty, proportion and continuous rhythm of the Golden Ratio - nature’s formula for perfection -
that The ProportionofBlu strives to embed in each and every garment they produce. The result is a very
technically engineered collection of clothing that translates into graceful sophisticated looks.
