CONSUMER PROTECTION
ACT,1986
The law relating to the protection of consumer is containing in the
Consumer Protection Act,1986. The Act applies to all goods and
services. It provides proper protection of the fundamental rights
and interests of the consumer, freeing them from exploitation and
creates awareness.

The act was passed : 1. In Lok Sabha on 9th December,1986.


2. Rajh Sabha on 10th December, 1986.
3. Assented by the President of India on 24th
December, 1986.
4. Was published in the Gazette of India on 26th
December, 1986.
The Consumer Protection Act 1986 is a social welfare legislation which was
enacted as a result of widespread consumer protection movement.

The aim of the Act is also to ensure the rights of the consumer.

The Act extends to the whole of India except the state of Jammu and
