In addition, nimesulide was demonstrated to possess many other biochemical properties that are
probably responsible for its clinical properties. These include prevention of inactivation of α-1-
proteinase inhibitor, inhibition of histamine release from human basophils and mast cells,
inhibition of histamine activity
INDICATION
• Relieve pain after surgical intervention
NURSING CONSIDERATIONS
• Assess patient for pain and limitation of movement; note type, location, and intensity prior to
and at the peak following administration.
• Administer after meals or with food or an antacid to minimize gastric irritation.
• Instruct patient to take with a full glass of water and to remain in an upright position for 15-30
min after administration.
• Teach patient to report blurred vision, ringing of ears that may indicate toxicity.
• Advise patient to report change in urine pattern, edema, increased pain in joints, fever, blood in
urine that may indicate nephrotoxicity
