that even college students still
have difficulty dealing with
algebraic concepts and
applications. Thus, there is a need
to assess the common errors of
students, to know the sources of
error, and possible solutions to
these errors.

It is in this context that this study

was conceptualized. The proposed
study aims to:
a) Identify the common errors
committed by college
algebra students;
b) Identify the causes of these
errors;
c) Measure the correlation
between students’ errors
and their gender and degree
programs

Moreover, the study will also

seek to propose possible
interventions to remediate the
common errors of students.

The study seeks to be

beneficial to mathematics
teachers, students, and
curriculum planners. It aims to
provide baseline information
for future researches in the
field of mathematics education.
