Here are the initial ideas that we had for our film poster.

Due to the fact that our film is based around blind dates and lonely hearts columns, we thought, as a group, that it would be a good idea to display this on the poster. The design is fairly simple and currently, we have two design ideas that have slight alterations. The film title will be positioned in the centre of the page, therefore breaking the traditional Z layout that many posters follow. The smaller text, including cast members and newspaper reviews will be positioned at the head and foot of the page, whilst the directors acknowledgments will be just below the masthead. With the inclusion of props in our second sketch, it will be interesting to see if a more 3D and realistic effect is created.

These are some of the first tests we completed for our short film posters. For the first image, we simply increased the brightness, contrast and saturation and added the text to the centre of the page. However, we felt that the lighting made the masthead text a little too difficult to read. We then edited the saturation so that it was almost in black and white. This would then darken the page and allow the text to be more visible. This, however, we felt was slightly dull and wasn t as cohesive in terms of text and image as the first test image.
