What is a Force Diagram?

Rachel .B

Have been thinking what is a Force diagram? Well you came to the right place. I have
lots of information on Force diagrams and links to people that do to. (Trust me that’s not
a lot of people!) I’ll teach you how to make a Force diagram, what one is, and lots
more…

What is and how do I make a Force diagram?

A Force diagram is pretty much a diagram that shows the forces acting on an object. To
make one you need to make a picture of the object and its surroundings. Then indentify
the forces that could be acting on the object and where they
are. Now, write down the forces, each next to where they are
happening. It’s also a good idea to draw an arrow along with
the force name.

Force
A force is a push or pull. If the forces are equal, the object its working on, won’t move.
This is called balanced forces. The opposite is when the forces are unequal, and the
object does move. This is called unbalanced forces. All things on earth have force
acting on them. These forces make it possible to move. Forces can be listed on a
diagram, that’s where we get force diagrams.
Glossary of terms
Force diagram – A diagram showing the forces acting on an object.
Force – A push or pull
Unbalanced forces – Forces that are unequal. (Makes the object move.)
Balanced forces – Forces that are equal. (Object stays still.)
