Lesson Plan
Name: Charissa Moser Partner: Brittany Duhn Class:
8-2
Focus Skill: Our focus skill for this activity is overhand throwing,
underhand throwing, and rolling.
Objectives: Our objective is to teach the class how to properly
point, step, and throw, how to point, step, and underhand throw, and
how to point, step, and roll a ball to a target.
Equipment: The equipment we will need is 14 gator skin balls, 32
poly spots, and 2 bowling pins.
Fitness/Conditioning Activities: We will have the kids do
arm stretches, leg stretches, helicopters, skiers, and windmills.
Warm-Up or Entry Activity: The warm-up activity we will have
them do is get with a partner and throw, toss, and roll the ball back
and forth. They will do three of each.
Skills Directed Lesson: We will teach them the point, step, and
throw method. We will explain that pointing aims to a target, stepping
helps you flow through, and throwing, tossing, or rolling is the skill.
Games/Reinforcement Activities: We will have the class split
into two groups of fifteen. They each will get on a poly spot that is in
a circle formation. There is a pin in the middle that will be on a poly
spot. That pin is the target. Scatted through the kids will be 7 gater
skin balls. The objective is to point, step, and throw to the pin. When
the pin is knocked down, the kids will have to run to another poly
spot. They will then have to try to knock over the pin again.
Closing: After the game is done we will have the kids go back to
their numbers and demonstrate how to throw, toss, and roll the ball.
We will ask them if they liked the game and how they did.
