CAMP COPASS

Activity Plan
Note that this activity plan will be shared with the staff so that they are prepared to help
support our efforts. As such, make sure that instructions for the activity plan are clear and
visuals are provided as needed to improve clarity.

Dr. Dillon will update the map per our discussion for the Life Skill Coaches to show locations
and times for the event.

Activity 1: Hungry Hippos

Equipment Needed:
12 Scooters
1000 Ball Pit Balls
24 Laundry Baskets
12 Poly Spots
6 Pool Noodles
Tape
Activity Description:

1. Ball pit balls will be spread out on the floor, against the border created by the foam blocks that
will be taped to the floor.
2. Team mates will be in groups of two. One member of the group will lay flat on their stomach
on a scooter board and be given a bucket/laundry basket to hold out in front of them. The other
teammate will grab their partner’s legs and push them to the other end of the barn to the balls.
Using the bucket/laundry basket the partner on the scooter will put their laundry basket on top
of as many ball pit balls as possible before their partner pulls them back to their polyspot.
3. The partner that collected the balls will get up and put them in their team’s hula hoop.
4. Partners will switch who is on the scooter board. They will then repeat
5. After the two minutes is up the total number of balls in all baskets will be counted and the
score will be calculated.

Teaching Cues and Instructional Strategies

Teaching Cues: “Lay on belly”/“Sit on scooter” “Push partner in” “get as many balls as you
can” “Pull partner back”

Instructional Strategies:
Have clients pair up in groups of 2 and stand at each polyspot. Provide demonstrations with
coaches or volunteers from the group of clients. Provide clear instructions about safety as
well as asking your partner if it is okay to push them or if they would like to move themselves
down to the balls.
Differentiated Instruction (Be SPECIFIC for each team and include how the activity will be
scored for each team)
Scoring: The total number of balls collected for each team will be counted. That number will
be divided by the total number of players to get an average score for each team.

Red: Keep Sam and Warren separate. Maliya does not want to be pushed. Attach scooters
together for clients with longer legs and/or bigger bodies and/or less mobility. Have the red
team travel a farther distance down to the ball pit balls.
Orange: Move the clients closer to the ball pit balls. Allow clients to move to the ball pit balls
by themselves. Attach two scooters for Johnny.
Yellow: Move the clients closer to the ball pit balls. Allow clients to move to the ball pit balls
by themselves. Maximum verbal cues will need to be provided to remind the client what
comes next. Modeling activity steps may need to be done several times during the activity.
Life coaches may need to actively participate with their client.
Pink: Keep Luke and Patriot separate. Most of the pink team will want to move in a seated
position, but provide the option for clients to lay on their belly as well as attach an additional
scooter for a bigger scooter. Provide positive praise to Coach to keep his motivation up.
Green: Rachel and Aiden work together with one more client for enough strength to push
each other and move to the ball pit balls. Have the green team start farther back with more
distance to travel. Check in with Skye to ensure he is ready to begin the activity prior to
saying go.
Purple:
Blue: Attach scooters together for clients with longer legs and/or bigger bodies and/or less
mobility. Clients can have the option to work with a partner or work independently for their
team. Allow Declan to push or pull the client instead of sitting on/laying on the scooter
board. He will also need a break after returning with balls. Life coach may need to help his
partner place balls in the basket to allow Declan a chance to regain his breath. Allow Chance
the opportunity to quietly listen to his music after the directions have been given.
Activity 2: Basketball Activities
Equipment Needed:
24 Poly spots
4 Hula Hoops
6 Basketballs
PVC for bracket/hook
Floor Tape
Activity Description:
Poly spot Basketball Activity:
● Prior to the game, coaches will model proper basketball form for clients to observe.
● Campers will practice in an informal setting and coaches will provide feedback on
form and provide strategies to help.
● Staff will lay out a variety of poly spots throughout the courts with different number
values. Each number will represent a certain number of points based on difficulty.
● Campers will be instructed to stand on the polyspot and shoot a basketball into the
basketball hoop. If the student makes the basketball hoop, they are able to keep the
polyspot and gain the points.
● At the end of the game, the staff will count all the points up and see how many points
are total for their team.
Scoring: Campers will add up the points from the poly spots that they earned in a 5 minute
period towards the end of the lesson.

Teaching Cues and Instructional Strategies

Basketball shooting with one hand

Proper form shooting basketball
Reminding them to stand on their polyspot and not moving while they shoot the ball

Differentiated Instruction (Be SPECIFIC for each team and include how the activity will be
scored for each team)
Red:
● Due to the size of transition academy, they will be split between Freshman and
Sophmores
● Each grade will be at one hoop and there will be a set of poly sports for each group
● Poly spots will be placed at different distances to account for the different abilities of
the group
Orange:
● Poly spots will be of higher value and placed closer to the basketball net. Maximum
cueing will be needed to accommodate the needs of this group.
● Hula hoops will hang from the net to provide shorter targets if the basketball net is
too high.
Yellow:
● Poly spots will be of higher value and placed closer to the basketball net. Maximum
cueing will be needed to accommodate the needs of this group.
● Hula hoops will hang from the net to provide shorter targets if the basketball net is
too high.
Pink:
● Ryan will most likely use “underhand granny shooting” due to mobility differences
● Keep Luke and Patriot separate
● Sky will need maximum cueing and help from a life coach
Green:
● Smaller basketball for Rachel
● Hula hoops will hang from the net to provide shorter targets if the basketball net is
too high.
● Middle distance of poly spots and some poly spots of higher value will be placed
closer to the basketball net.
Purple:
● Middle distance of poly spots
● Hula hoops will hang from the net to provide shorter targets if the basketball net is
too high.
Blue:
● Middle distance of poly spots
● Hula hoops will hang from the net to provide shorter targets if the basketball net is
too high.
Activity 3: Angry Birds
Equipment Needed:
All bowling pins
All foam bowling pins
8 big tall cones (traffic cone sized)
All Playground balls
10 Tennis Balls
5 cloth softballs
12 hula hoops
12 poly spots
4 gray buckets
maxi net (full set up)
4 Basketballs to place on tall cones
4 volleyballs to place on tall cones
12 dome cones
Activity Description:
1. Maxi net will be set out 10 feet away from fence of pool at the highest height
2. Bowling pins/foam pins/tall cones and basketballs/buckets/hula hoop domes will be
randomly scattered between the maxinet and the pool fence.
3. A line of dome cones will be placed 4-5 feet from the maxi net. This line can not be
passed when throwing the balls over the net. If the line is passed it will be a deduction
of one point per time the line is passed.
4. Review over hand throwing form with clients briefly. Remind them that they need to
step in opposition. Throwing cues would be “step” and “Throw”.
5. The clients will get a practice round first to get the feel of how the game is going to
work. In this practice emphasize the importance of the form in overhand throwing.
6. After either all of the objects are knocked down or the clients run out of
manipulatives reset.
7. They will get a first trial. In this trial they will count how many objects they have
knocked over.
8. They will get a second trial to attempt to beat the first trial. In the second trial,
challenge them to attempt to increase their throwing distance.
9. Count up the number of objects knocked over again after the second attempt.
10. Score will be the highest of two rounds.

Teaching Cues and Instructional Strategies

1 pt for items knocked over. TA will be an average

Teaching Cues: Step, throw.

Instructional Strategy: If you are right- handed, you are going to step with your left foot and
throw. If you are left-handed, you are going to step with your right foot and throw.
Step in the direction (or towards the way) that you want to hit an object.
Differentiated Instruction (Be SPECIFIC for each team and include how the activity will be
scored for each team)
Red: Can not cross the 4ft line at all. If they do there will be a 1 point deduction per crossover
from the final score. Tall cones will have smaller objects for them to knock over. Only be able
to use tennis balls and cloth softballs. 10-15 from net
Orange: Net will be lowered as far as possible and the 4-5 foot line will be removed. Tall
cones with basketballs will be added for this group for larger targets for them to hit. Will be
able to use playground balls as well as any other ball provided.
Yellow: Net will be lowered as far as possible and the 4-5 foot line will be removed. Tall cones
with basketballs will be added for this group for larger targets for them to hit. Will be able to
use playground balls as well as any other ball provided.
Pink: Place 5 poly spots at 4ft line for the first initial practice round. If this is too much of a
challenge for them, remove the dome cones. Will need poly spots for a “home base”. Patriot
and Luke need to be on opposite sides. Visuals or signs for Sky. Offer them a target to aim at.
Net can be at mid height.
Green: Can be at standard distance from the net for initial trial but if too much of a challenge
remove the 4ft line of dome cones Will need poly spots as home base. Net can be standard
height, but again if too much of a challenge in initial trial can be lowered. Ask to aim for a
specific target to be most successful.
Purple: Can be at standard distance from the net for initial trial but if too much of a challenge
remove the 4ft line of dome cones Will need poly spots as home base. Net can be standard
height, but again if too much of a challenge in initial trial can be lowered. Ask to aim for a
specific target to be most successful.
Blue: Can be at standard distance from the net for initial trial but if too much of a challenge
remove the 4ft line of dome cones Will need poly spots as home base. Net can be standard
height, but again if too much of a challenge in initial trial can be lowered. Ask to aim for a
specific target to be most successful.
Activity 4: Kickball
Equipment Needed:
1 playground ball
4 bases
7 poly spots
Activity Description:
PROVIDE REMINDERS ABOUT RUNNING THE BASES
● Two teams will be split and one team will be kicking first and one team will be
fielding.
● Fielding team will position themselves on the poly spots or near the poly spots on the
softball field.
● Kicking team will line up and get ready to kick.
● The pitcher (APE/SLP Scholar) will roll the ball down towards the kicker. The kicker will
kick the ball and run to first base.
● If the ball is kicked into the air and caught by a fielder, the runner is out. If the ball is
kicked into foul territory, the kicker gets another kick. If the runner makes it to the
base before the ball is thrown to the first-baseman, the runner is safe.
● When the ball is back in the pitcher’s hand, the runner must stop running at the base
they are at.
● The next kicker is up to kick and the game continues.
● The teams will switch sides after 3 outs, or when the entire kicking team has kicked.
Teaching Cues and Instructional Strategies

Teaching cues: kick the ball as hard as you can and run as fast as you can after you kick the
ball. Catch the ball with both hands.

Instructional Strategy: If you are right- handed, you are going to step with your left foot and
throw. If you are left-handed, you are going to step with your right foot and throw.
If you are going to kick with your left foot, step next to or near the ball with your right foot. If
you are going to kick with your right foot, step next to or near the ball with your left foot.
Differentiated Instruction (Be SPECIFIC for each team and include how the activity will be
scored for each team)
Red: Play freshman against sophomores.
Orange: Ball thrower may need to roll the ball slower or have the clients kick a stationary ball
that is placed in front of them. Decrease the distance between the bases for the clients to run
Yellow: Ball thrower may need to roll the ball slower or have the clients kick a stationary ball
that is placed in front of them. Decrease the distance between the bases for the clients to run
Pink: Make sure that Patriot and Luke are separated from one another in line. Skye will need
maximal verbal cues and possible sign language if a life coach is present.
Green: Monitor for frustration levels. Ball thrower may need to roll the ball slower or have
the clients kick a stationary ball that is placed in front of them, especially Rachelle. May need
to move all the bases closer to decrease running.
Purple:
Blue: Life coaches may need to be actively participating to mediate behavior.
Activity 5: Marshmallow River
Equipment Needed:
60 Poly spots (various colors and sizes)
2 long jump ropes
12 deck rings
6 poly spot visuals
Activity Description:
Poly spots will be spread out in a wide rectangular area with two ropes on either side of the spots
(going long ways) to act as barriers. For Pod Wars, campers must partner up, create small groups, or
cross all together as a team by holding hands. Players will first complete the river with their minimum
required level (e.g. individual, partners). Then players will take the trek across the marshmallow river
with their entire team, avoiding the ground and only stepping on the poly spots. If a camper touches
the ground, the team must go back to the beginning and try again. Deck rings can be used to
substitute hand-holding if preferred. Life coaches can also serve as partners/group members if it
provides the best support to the players. Poly spots of varying sizes and colors will have different rules
depending on the size OR color of the polyspot (e.g., only one foot can be placed on smaller poly
spots, while both feet can be placed on larger spots; campers cannot step on the purple poly spots or
they must begin again, etc.). Rules will also depend on the skill level of the team.
Teaching Cues and Instructional Strategies
The goal is to teach teamwork. We can begin by modeling how to cross the marshmallow river with a
partner to begin the station if campers would like another example. Then, depending on the team,
either campers will partner up, gather into small groups, or take their entire team across the river to
the other side without touching the ground. Teams can sing their chant while crossing if they want to,
but have to use clear language in order to instruct their partner on how they need to move forward.
Visual cues of the poly spots can be shown by TWU scholars to help aid students in crossing the path.
Poly spots of varying sizes and colors will be laid out for the campers, with different rules depending
on the size OR color of the polyspot (e.g., only one foot can be placed on smaller poly spots, while
both feet can be placed on larger spots; purple poly spots can only have one foot placed on them as
campers cross, etc.).
Differentiated Instruction
Red: For Pod Wars, the red team will cross the marshmallow river together as a full team.
Deck rings can be used to substitute hand-holding. Poly spots will be spread further out than
other groups. Smaller poly spots will be scattered in between some of the larger poly spots to
act as stepping stones if needed. Shark, star, and select colored poly spots will be designated
as off-limits spots the campers cannot touch as they cross. Warren and Sam should be
separated and on opposite sides of the team as they cross. Scoring: The minimum number of
points the team can win is 4, if each member of the team successfully crosses the river with
no off-limit spots. Another 4 points is given if the team can get across without touching the
off-limit spots. Teams can try multiple times and it will not affect the points they receive. Each
time a camper communicates with a peer(s) to move across the river (e.g., “Left foot yellow.”)
or provides encouragement to another peer(s) (e.g., “Good job, X!”), one point will be
awarded, with a maximum of 10 points.
Orange: The orange team will be given the opportunity to cross the marshmallow river
individually and as a team. Only larger poly spots will be utilized and placed closer together
for this team. Smaller spots can be used at “stepping stones” to help decrease distance
between spots Jon and Johnny may be provided with visual and verbal cues to facilitate their
trek across the river independently and with their team. If their feet touch part of the
ground, but at least part of their foot is on a poly spot, they will not be penalized. Scoring: 4
points will be awarded to the team if they successfully cross the river individually. 4 more
points will be added if they cross as a whole unit. Each time a camper communicates with a
peer(s) to move across the river (e.g., “Left foot yellow.”) or provides encouragement to
another peer(s) (e.g., “Good job, X!”), one point will be awarded, with a maximum of 10
points.
Yellow: The yellow team will be given the opportunity to cross the marshmallow river
individually and as a team. Only larger poly spots will be utilized and placed closer together
for this team. Smaller spots can be used at “stepping stones” to help decrease distance
between spots. All members of the team may be provided with visual and verbal cues to
facilitate their trek across the river independently and with their teammates. If their feet
touch part of the ground, but at least part of their foot is on a poly spot, they will not be
penalized. Scoring: 4 points will be awarded to the team if they successfully cross the river
individually. 4 more points will be added if they cross as a whole unit. Each time a camper
communicates with a peer(s) to move across the river (e.g., “Left foot yellow.”) or provides
encouragement to another peer(s) (e.g., “Good job, X!”), one point will be awarded, with a
maximum of 10 points.
Pink: The pink team will be given the opportunity to cross the marshmallow river in pairs and
as a team. Only larger poly spots will be utilized and placed farther apart for this team. Sky
will be provided visual images of the poly spot to help facilitate him walking across
independently. Luke and Patriot will be separated into corn holes that will not intersect in
any way. Scoring: 4 points will be awarded to the team if they successfully cross the river in
pairs.
Green: The green team will be given the opportunity to cross the marshmallow river as pairs
and as a team. Larger poly spots will be utilized and placed closer together for this team
along with smaller poly spots to help as stepping stones. Shark poly spots will be avoided. If
their feet touch part of the ground, but at least part of their foot is on a poly spot, they will
not be penalized. Scoring: 4 points will be awarded to the team if they successfully cross the
river in pairs.
Purple: For Pod Wars, the blue team will cross the marshmallow river together as a full team.
Deck rings can be used to substitute hand-holding. Poly spots will be spread further out than
other groups. Smaller poly spots will be scattered in between some of the larger poly spots to
act as stepping stones if needed. Shark, star, and select colored poly spots will be designated
as off-limits spots the campers cannot touch as they cross if increased complexity is needed.
Scoring: 4 points will be awarded to the team if they successfully cross the river as a team
with no off limit poly spots. 4 more points will be added if they cross as a team with off limit
poly spots in place. Each time a camper communicates with a peer(s) to move across the river
(e.g., “Left foot yellow.”) or provides encouragement to another peer(s) (e.g., “Good job, X!”),
one point will be awarded, with a maximum of 10 points.
Blue: For Pod Wars, the blue team will cross the marshmallow river together as a full team
(recommended), or pairs if they choose. Deck rings can be used to substitute hand-holding.
Poly spots will be spread further out than other groups. Smaller poly spots will be scattered in
between some of the larger poly spots to act as stepping stones if needed. If working in pairs,
sharks, and select colored poly spots will be designated as off-limits spots the campers
cannot touch as they cross if increased complexity is needed. Scoring: The minimum number
of points the team can win is 4, if each member of the team successfully crosses the river
there and back (for team- no off limit poly spots, for pairs, off limit poly spots). Another 4
points are provided if the team crosses the river again with another level of difficulty (for
pairs- additional off-limit poly spots, for team- addition of off limit poly spots). Each time a
camper communicates with a peer(s) to move across the river (e.g., “Left foot yellow.”) or
provides encouragement to another peer(s) (e.g., “Good job, X!”), one point will be awarded,
with a maximum of 10 points.
Activity 6: Corn Hole
Equipment Needed:
5 Corn Hole games (with beanbags and boards)
5 Poly spots
10-20 extra bean bags
1 Kids Soccer Goal (for modification if needed)
Activity Description:
The goal for this activity is to throw the bean bags into the corn hole using underhand
throws. Players will stand on a poly spot situated from a certain distance from the cornhole
(depending on modifications, it can be closer or farther). An equal amount of bean bags will
be placed by each poly spot. Players will use an underhand throw to toss a bean bag into
and/or onto the cornhole. Modifications may include changing polyspot distance and having
a life coach/scholar to give gestural, visual, and hand over hand cues to throw the bean bag.

Teaching Cues and Instructional Strategies

Campers will be instructed to practice their underhand throw by aiming at the cornhole
board. Campers will be reminded of proper form- those who are right-hand dominant should
use their left foot to step forward and throw, and vice versa for those who are left-hand
dominant. The throwing arm should remain straight and extended, which can be facilitated
by modeling or hand-over-hand via the life coach/scholar.

Differentiated Instruction (Be SPECIFIC for each team and include how the activity will be
scored for each team)
Red: The angle of the player can be manipulated, as well as the distance in which they are
standing from the cornhole to increase complexity. Scoring: Bean bags that go into the hole
are 3 points, any bean bags that land on the board are 1 point.
Orange: The distance of the cornhole boards should be significantly decreased so that the
throwing distance is shorter and requires less force. Soccer goal may be utilized to allow for
more targets. Scoring: For cornholes, bean bags that go into the hole are 3 points, any bean
bags that land on the board are 1 point. For soccer goals, middle goal will count as 3 points
and peripheral goals will count as 1 point.
Yellow: The distance of cornhole boards should be significantly decreased as well. Higher cue
levels may be needed such as repeated modeling and hand over hand cues (e.g. for
individuals like Tug). Soccer goal may be utilized to allow for more targets. Scoring: For
cornholes, bean bags that go into the hole are 3 points, any bean bags that land on the board
are 1 point. For soccer goals, middle goal will count as 3 points and peripheral goals will
count as 1 point.
Pink: Patriot and Luke will play at separate corn hole boards, not against each other. Skye will
be provided with maximal visual cues and modeling. If his life coach is available, sign
language may be utilized in order to facilitate more understanding. Scoring: Bean bags that
go into the hole are 3 points, any bean bags that land on the board are 1 point.
Green: Moderate to maximal visual cues and hand-over-hand modeling for Aiden. Distance
can be adjusted for Rachel if needed. Soccer goal may be utilized to allow for more targets.
Scoring: For cornholes, Bean bags that go into the hole are 3 points, any bean bags that land
on the board are 1 point. For soccer goals, middle goal will count as 3 points and peripheral
goals will count as 1 point.
Purple: Austin may require his life coach/scholar to be with him to facilitate AAC and
repeated modeling/cues to throw. Soccer goal may be utilized to allow for more targets.
Scoring: For cornholes, bean bags that go into the hole are 3 points, any bean bags that land
on the board are 1 point. For soccer goals, middle goal will count as 3 points and peripheral
goals will count as 1 point.
Blue: Distance between corn hole boards should be increased for Chance, and the angle at
which he throws his bean bag can be altered throughout his turns. Scoring: Bean bags that
go into the hole are 3 points, any bean bags that land on the board are 1 point.

*1 round will be scored for each team. Each player gets 4 throws in that round and the
number of points scored by the whole team will be averaged.
Activity 7: Co-operative Ball Activities
Equipment Needed:
2 Large Beach Balls
2 Small Beach Balls
15 poly spots
Money spots
Activity Description:

Ball passing/Balance
“Okay so during the pod wars, we are all going to have to work together as a team if we
want to win, so we are going to practice that today! I need all of you to form a straight line
so we can start our activity.

The team will line up in a straight line one behind the other. There should be at least an arm’s
length of space in between each client.
● The campers will pass the ball over their head to the person behind them. Once the
ball has reached the last person, everyone will turn their body 180 degrees and pass
the ball again.
● Next, campers will pass the ball in between their legs to the person behind them.
Once the ball has reached the last person, everyone will turn their body 180 degrees
and pass the ball again.
● Next, campers will alternate the passing (over, under, over under) to the person
behind them. Once the ball has reached the last person, everyone will turn their body
180 degrees and pass again.
● For the next activity, campers will work with a partner. They will place a large beach
ball in between them and hold with the side of their bodies without using their hands
to support. They will start at one poly spot and travel to another poly spot about 30
feet away. Clients will travel as fast as they can with their partner while maintaining
control.

SCORING: A minimum of 5 will be given for the team completing both ball activities. Extra 2
points can be given if the ball was not dropped at any point for either activity. A total of 7
points can be earned for this activity depending how many ball activities.

Teaching Cues and Instructional Strategies

● Reminding the teams when to go over and when to go under
● Keeping their feet in place on the ground, stuck like glue
● Using poly spots to direct campers where to stand and reminding them to stay on
their spots.
● For the partner activity, instructing students to get closer or talk with their partner on
what to do.
Differentiated Instruction (Be SPECIFIC for each team and include how the activity will be
scored for each team)
Red: Red team will do all team building ball activities in their original state (i.e. over/under
and walking with ball in between hips with a partner). Red team will also have an additional
money activity demonstrated on Monday.
Orange: Orange team will only pass the ball overhead for the first activity. Orange team will
also get into pairs and hold the ball in between their hands as they walk from one side to the
next. The two pairs will be pushing on the ball helping it stay up.
Yellow: Yellow team will only pass the ball overhead for the first activity. Yellow team will
also get into pairs and hold the ball in between their hands as they walk from one side to the
next. The two pairs will be pushing on the ball helping it stay up.
Pink: Pink team will do under and over with the first ball activity. For the second activity, the
team will get in pairs and move the beach ball in between their hips.
● Due to uncomfort, Luke needs to be at the front of the line to avoid going under and
that he should ONLY do over. Secondly, due to mobility challenges, Ryan needs to be
second in line to avoid going over. He is ONLY able to do under.
Green: Green team will do under and over with the first ball activity. For the second activity,
the team will get in pairs and hold the ball in between their hands as they walk from one side
to the next. The two pairs will be pushing on the ball helping it stay up.
● Due to the size of some of the campers (e.g. Rachel), a small beach ball will be used
for all ball activities among the participants.
Purple: Purple team will only pass the ball overhead for the first activity. Purple team will also
get into pairs and hold the ball in between their hands as they walk from one side to the
next. The two pairs will be pushing on the ball helping it stay up.
Blue: Blue team will do under and over with the first ball activity. For the second activity, the
team will get in pairs and move the beach ball in between their hips.
● Due to uncomfort, Chance needs to be at the front of the line to avoid going under
and that he should ONLY do over.

Activity Description:
1. Balloon Toss
a. 2 long jump ropes/ropes can be placed on the ground to serve as a perimeter. Within
the space between these ropes, 3 sets of poly spots will be laid out (2 green, 2 yellow,
2 red) at different distances from each other. The 2 green poly spots will be the
closest together and can be utilized by teams that are more impacted. The 2 yellow
poly spots will be situated slightly further from each other, and the red poly spots will
be placed the furthest from each other.
b. Each team will be instructed to partner up with another team member. Once
everyone is paired up, the TWU scholar will place one of their team pairs on the set of
poly spots with the distance that is most appropriate for that team. Once they are
placed, the remaining team pairs can line up on either side of the first pair, spread
out, so that they are all equal distance from their team member. Each pair will be
given a water balloon and instructed to begin throwing them to their partner.
c. Once each pair has successfully tossed and caught the balloon with their partner
once, each camper a part of the pair will take one step back, increasing the distance
between them. Pairs will continue taking steps back and increasing the distance until
each pair has taken 4 steps back.
2. Agility: Players will move through a series of agility courses using materials depending on the
skill level of the team. Options for each agility activity is hula hoops, cones, poly spots, agility
ladders, and hurdles. There will be 3 lanes based on differentiation.
- Red: agility ladders, hurdles, and cones
- Blue/Pink/Green/Purple: agility ladder, cones, and hula hoops
- Orange/yellow: poly spots and hula hoops
Scoring: If the team completes the activity they receive a minimum score of 5 points. A bonus
point (+1) given if teams cheer each other on, instruct/help one another, or show team
comradery. This accounts for a possible total of 6 points.
3. PVC Fill
a. Participants will be split into groups and will determine their roles. The player
assigned to pour water will begin by filling up an oversized cup with water and
pouring it into the top of the PVC pipe. They will continue doing this for 2 minutes.
The other participants will cover up the holes in the PVC pipe to keep as much water
in the bucket.

Player roles:
i. One to two player(s) will use the cup to pour water into their pipe.
ii. All additional players will put their fingers on the holes to keep water in the
pipe.
Scoring:
Each 5-gallon bucket will have lines drawn to determine points. The water will be assessed by
the clinician to determine which line the water has passed. If in between two lines, the
number crossed will be the one used. (If between lines two and three you will give points for
line 2).

Line 1 (closest to the bottom): 5 points

Line 2 (next up from the bottom): 10 points
Line 3 (in the middle of the bucket): 15 points
Line 4 (2nd from the top): 20 points
Line 5 (top of the bucket): 25 points

4. Balloon Relay
a. Poly spots for each colored team will be used for distance. If there is a jam, we have
enough buckets for 3 lanes. If there happens to be more at this station, remind them
they will have to wait their turn.
b. An empty bucket will be placed at the beginning of the line
c. A bucket of water balloons will be placed 15 ft. at the opposite of the empty bucket
i. one balloon for each client in the bucket
d. Clients will stand next to the empty bucket.
e. With the serving spoon, they will have to run/jog/walk to the bucket full of balloons.
f. They will use the spoon to get a balloon and bring it back to the empty bucket.
i. if the balloon falls, they will continue back to the end of the line.
g. Once all balloons are in the bucket, they will move on.
5. Throwing Targets
a. Clients will stand a specified distance away from various targets spread out around
different distances. Clients will work together to underhand throw yarn balls into
their targets. Once the team has made the specified amount of yarn balls into the
targets, they can move to the next obstacle.
6. Memory Game
a. X cards will be spread out on the ground. Clients will be lined up in pairs about X feet
away from the card.
b. In pairs, clients will run to the cards and each client will flip over ONE card. If it is a
match, they will take it back to their team. If it is not a match, they will place the
cards back face down and go back to their team.
7. Friendship/Hula Pass
a. The residents will line up in a line or circle and have to hold hands and have each
resident pass through the hula without breaking the circle or line.
b. SCORING: based on completion. The team who completes with the fastest time will
receive an extra point.

Teaching Cues and Instructional Strategies

Differentiated Instruction (Be SPECIFIC for each team and include how the activity will be scored for
each team)
Red:
- Balloon Toss: The red team will begin on the red poly spots, which are furthest away from
each other, and take steps back from there. and should be on opposite sides of each other at
the station.
- Agility Course: Red will have their own separate lane for agility to add more complex agility
options for them.
- PVC Fill: split into 4 groups depending on the number of participants present. PVC pipe will
have more holes (moderate to hard level of difficulty). Warren and Sam should not be paired
up. Warren may not participate if he is not interested in getting wet.
- Friendship circle/ Hula hoop: have the freshman and sophomore students race against each
other. Use smaller hula hoops for a challenge. Keep Warren and Sam sereprated.
- Memory game: Increase the amount of cards available to match. Increase the distance
between the starting point and the cards.
- Throwing Targets: Groups of 3 will stand together, one partner will have their Eyes closed,
another partner directs the partner where to throw, and the third partner will help collect
more yarn balls to throw. After the partner throws they will rotate and continue to attempt to
make 6 targets as a group of three. If 6 targets have been made, the group must cheer on the
rest of their team until every group from Red has made 6 yarn balls.
- Balloon Relay: The poly spots will be placed 20 ft. apart. Their empty bucket will be placed
next to the bucket full of balloons. The clients will have to weave between the cones, collect a
balloon, weave back through cones, hand off the balloon to the next person in line. That
person will have to weave back down the course and deposit the balloon to the empty
bucket. They will then collect another balloon and repeat. Sam and Warren need to be
separated.
-
Orange:
- Balloon Toss: The orange team will begin on the green poly spots, which are closest to each
other, and take steps back from there.
- Agility Course: Orange/Yellow/Green will have their own separate lane for agility involving
simpler agility options. Life coaches/scholars are allowed to “partner” with them to help them
complete the course.
- PVC fill: split into 1 to 3 groups depending on number of participants. Life coaches will be
encouraged to participate. PVC pipe will be _____in. and have the fewest amount of holes in
the pipe (minimal level of difficulty).
- Friendship circle/ Hula hoop: have the life coaches to the activity with the residents. Use
deck rings when needed and use a big hula hoop.
- Memory game: Decrease the distance between starting point and memory cards. Decrease
the amount of cards available to match. Have life coaches assist in the matching.
- Throwing Targets: Have clients stand closer to targets and the entire team has to make 10
objects into the targets.
- Balloon Relay: Distance will be decreased to 10 ft between the buckets. They will only have to
get 3 balloons back before moving to the next station. May need poly spots while standing in
line.
-
Yellow:
- Balloon Toss: The yellow team will begin on the green poly spots, which are closest to each
other, and take steps back from there.
Scoring lines can be closer together. More can be
grouped towards the bottom. Maximum verbal cues will need to be provided to remind the
client what comes next. Modeling activity steps may need to be done several times during the
activity.
- Friendship circle/ Hula hoop: have the life coaches model the activity with the residents. Use
deck rings if the residents don’t want to hold hands. Use a bigger hula hoop.
May need poly spots while standing in
line.
-
Pink:
- Balloon Toss: The pink team will begin on the yellow poly spots, which reflect the middle
distance, and take steps back from there. Luke and Patriot should not be paired up and
should be on opposite sides of each other at the station.
- Agility Course: Pink/Blue/Purple will have their own separate lane to accommodate their skill
level. Luke and Patriot must be separated and will not be near each other in line. Sky can have
his life coach along with him completing the course to give visual cues and sign.
- PVC fill: split into 1 to 3 groups depending on number of participants. Life coaches will be
encouraged to participate. PVC pipe will be _____in. and have the fewest amount of holes in
the pipe (minimal level of difficulty). Scoring lines can be closer together. More can be
grouped towards the bottom. Keep Luke and Patriot separate.
- Friendship circle/ Hula hoop: have the life coaches model the activity with the residents. Use
deck rings if the residents don’t want to hold hands. Use a bigger hula hoop. Keep Patriot and
Luke sereprated.
- Throwing Targets: Clients will stand from a farther distance and as a team they must make 10
throws into the targets.
- Balloon Relay: Will stay at the same 15 ft distance. Patriot and Luke will need to be
separated. Only need to get 5 balloons before moving on. Can do all if they choose.
-
Green:
- Balloon Toss: The green team will begin on the yellow poly spots, and take steps back from
there.
- Agility Course: Orange/Yellow/Green will have their own separate lane for agility involving
simpler agility options. Life coaches/scholars are allowed to “partner” with them to help them
complete the course.
- PVC Fill: split into 1 to 3 groups depending on number of participants present. PVC pipe will
be ____in. with a medium number of holes (moderate level of difficulty). Check with Skye to
ensure understanding of the task prior to saying go. Make sure Rachelle is able to access the
bottom holes on the PVC pipe. Provide a small platform to stand on if needed.
- Friendship circle/ Hula hoop: have the life coaches model the activity with the residents. Use
deck rings if the residents don’t want to hold hands. Use a bigger hula hoop.
- Throwing Targets: Clients will stand from a farther distance and as a team they must make 10
throws into the targets.
- Balloon Relay: Will stay at the same 15 ft distance. May need poly spots in line. Only need 6
or 7 balloons to move to the next station.
Purple:
- Balloon Toss: The purple team will begin on the yellow poly spots, and take steps back from
there.
- Agility Course: Pink/Blue/Purple will have their own separate lane to accommodate their skill
level. Austin can have his life coach along with him during the course to help and facilitate
cues.
- PVC Fill: split into 1 to 3 groups depending on number of participants present. PVC pipe will
be ____in. with a medium number of holes (moderate level of difficulty).
- Friendship circle/ Hula hoop: see how fast it takes the residents to complete the activity. Use
both a big and smaller hula hoop for a challenge.
- Memory game: Decrease the number of cards available to match. Decrease distance between
starting point and memory cards. Life coaches will travel with them to assist in matching
- Throwing Targets: Clients will stand from a farther distance and as a team they must make 10
throws into the targets.
- Balloon Relay: Clients will be at 15ft distance. Their second bucket will be by the bucket full of
