Razak Report
• The Razak Report is a Malayan educational
proposal written in the 1956.
• Razak Report forwards the Malay language as
the main medium of instruction.
• Malay was to be a compulsory subject in all
school.
• English will be second language because of it
utiletarian value.
• In secondary school, instruction might be in
English or Chinese.
• Because of that, the Malay become a bilingual
and non-Malays becoming a trilingual.
Rahman Talib Report
• Malay and English medium schools is to be
parallel.
• Stressed the need for the universities to use
Malay in lecture.
• 1970- ministry education announced that the
first year level at English medium elementary
schools would be change to Malay medium in
1971.
• The use of Malay Language has also increased
within the universities.
• Requirement for student – attend courses and
pass test in Malay Language.
• Uses of Malay Language in lectures and tutorials
and the requirement that some or all
examination has to be answered in it.
• Universiti Kebangsaan opened in 1970 as Malay
medium institution.
Reasons For the declination of English
Usage?
• The use of Malay language in every aspect of
life.
• Poor usage of English. English doesn’t act as
the main language like Malay.
• English Language is only being use as the
comunication language- just as basic.
• During that time, the people defend the use of
Malay language.
