    Writing Center Meeting Minutes – 02/14/11 Happy Valentine’s Day!

    Tonight’s Focus: Editing Issues


    Figure out groups according to kissing: alphabetical according to name of the last person who
    kissed you. Attn. Lauren did not kiss the same Brandon as Sally.

    - Group pairs took a test on commonly confused words.

    Distinctions:

    Apprise - to inform Appraise - find the value of

    Eminent - important Imminent - about to occur

    Affect - influence Effect - result of the influence

    Discreet – keep things quiet Discrete – compartmentalize

    Sydney remembers semiannual because of Victoria’s Secret semiannual sale.

    Sydney and Mike win a pen. Sydney picks a purple one.

    Business:

    Volunteers needed tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1:00 pm to run an experiment in the WC.

    Volunteers to meet and greet in the WC for people doing interviews this Saturday for admitted
    student weekend interviews

    Submit to the pearl – submissions due Monday after Spring Break
