Important Dates
August 23rd- PTO Family Bingo Night in the MP
Room from 6-8pm
August 29th-Nate Mack Night at McDonald’s
September 2nd- No School-Labor Day
Homework packets will come home on Monday and
are due the next Monday. This gives the kids a full
week to complete it.
Kelso’s Choices
Our school counselor, Mrs. Ryan, is coming in each
day to teach us about 1 of Kelso’s ways to solve
problems. We are practicing with her and trying to
use them when we encounter small problems on
the playground or in the classroom that we can
handle on our own.
REMINDER: Students can have a water bottle in
class but it has to have a flip top with a straw. Please
NO twist top bottles. They end up spilling.
What We’re Learning
Sight Word of the Week: I
Phonics: We are starting Alphabet Boot Camp
this week. We will be learning the name, sound,
and how to write a letter each day. Please refer
to the letter that is attached to this packet to
see when your child needs to bring in an item
from home and what letter they are assigned.
Reading: We are reading the book The Dot this
week and will work on identifying the characters
in the story.
Writing: We are working on proper pencil grip
and drawing detailed pictures to tell a story. We
are listening for the first sound in a word so we
can add that to our pictures.
Math: We are stating Number Boot Camp. We
will focus on learning the name, how to write,
and how to count that amount of objects for
numbers 1-5.
Social Studies/Science/Health: We are
learning about germs and how to prevent them
from spreading with proper hand washing.
