REACTION PAPER

“The Adventures of Odysseus”

In watching of the Adventure of Odyssey, I recognize that there are lots of differences in the
story of Odysseus in the book and in the movie. The first difference was in the movie, the movie the first
adventure of Odysseus was in the hand of Cyclops were he lost some of his men. But in the book it was
getting to the lotus-eaters which are not in the movie. Next is that it was not in the book they were near
home when the sack of wind was opened. When they got to Circe, in the book they get away from her
by Odysseus getting her sword, but in the movie they stayed there for almost five years because of
losing their memories. Odysseus life was full of adventures, pains and sufferings. He went through
struggle. No one in the earth can bare. I admire him for he is a strong man, physically, mentally and
emotionally. He lost all of his friends in their voyage, yet he is still standing and willing to get back at his
home. While on their journey, they’ve meet different creatures like Cyclops, Giants and sirens. With his
crew, they’ve battled this and in the end. He was left standing alone, nevertheless. He still struggles for
his life. A heroic act an ordinary human can’t do. Odysseus was a very strong man. He showed a lot of
potency and courage. He managed to get back to Ithaca alive and bring his family and throne back. From
his experience, we should understand that life is like a wheel; sometimes you are up, sometimes you are
down.
