Daily Van Operation/Maintenance Procedures

In the morning before you leave for first appointment :

 Check Fresh Water Tank and if full and ready, turn on water heater dial to prepare for first appt. In 400 or
600 vans, water will heat during drive to first appointment. If drive is short or there is no time to warm up
the van then use the electric boost switch in the salon to help heat the water.
 Double check supplies, towels and be sure interior is clean and ready for your first pet.
 Unplug the van, be sure roof vent is closed and rear AC is off. (In 400 or 600 Van Rear AC switch is in the
cab on the left side of the steering wheel) and then drive to first appointment.

When you arrive at every appointment:

 Put van in park, set E-brake (start high idle if needed) and go collect pet, discuss the groom with customer
for any last minute arrangements and start your groom.
 As soon as bath is done, while you are towel drying, ALWAYS run waste pump until it gurgles and empty
tub.
 Complete your groom, return pet to house, take your calendar with you when you take the pet and
rebook the customer if possible. You need to bring your calendar in with you when you return the pet
because if you have to leave to get your calendar, you give the customer the chance to say they’ll just call
in.
 Return to van and immediately remove any hair in tub screen, rinse out tub and wash pump filter, spray
with disinfectant, wipe down tub, windows, grooming table and all surfaces with the wet towels from
your groom and vacuum as much loose hair as possible. Reach around blower/dryer and remove hair
from grey foam filter. Be sure you run waste pump to empty any water you use to rinse the tub. Empty
clipper vac.
 Turn off rear AC before you leave, be sure roof vent is closed, complete paperwork and then drive to next
appointment. Repeat until last appointment.
 After last appointment do basic cleaning as with every appointment (be sure the tub is emptied before
you leave your last appointment). Be sure rear AC is turned off before you leave your last appointment.
Turn off inverter before you leave last appointment to conserve battery charge.
 Go by office to drop funds, get rid of wet towels and restock for next day. (3x per Week)

At night when you get home (10 Minutes):

 Check and if needed do a quick clean (wipe down) on tub, windows, stainless and vacuum any hair you
missed in and around salon. Be sure tub is disinfected, 100% clean and totally dry. Never leave dirty
water in tub.
 Completely empty waste tank every night, refill the fresh water tank, put the waste hose away and store
on the top shelf making sure it’s nowhere near the inverter. Be sure all equipment in the van is turned off
and that nothing is plugged into any of the cigarette lighter outlets. Plug extension cord into black
charging cord and be sure the inverter is shut off and that only the charge indicator is lit and the inverter
is charging as it should. Lock down the van for the night. (In winter, turn on diesel heater or electric
heater and be sure it is working. Without heat, van will freeze!!!)
 Complete and save daily log (5 minutes).
