ABSTRACT
Online Descriptive Examination System (ODES), a tool that
tackles your test requirements with friendly interfaces. It is an
innovative open source solution to manage university type
examinations. Various exam related tasks are made easy and online
using the tool. It is mainly focused on managing university/school type
exams containing descriptive questions or a mix of descriptive and
objective type questions. Various exam related tasks such as paper
pattern creation and reuse, question paper creation, conducting the
exam, evaluation of the answer sheets are made easy and online using
the tool. The framework offers a number of benefits such as reuse of
resources, reduction in time, effort paper work and human errors
during evaluation, with the assessment of answers still being done
manually.
There will be a login id and password for each student, faculty and
administrator which uniquely identifies the student, faculty and
administrator respectively and With which the student can login and
take the exam where as the faculty is allowed to upload the question
paper for the exam. Similarly test is conducted for the student based
on his year and semester. After all the students complete there exam
concerned faculty, when required, can login with there unique ids and
evaluate the students papers. This entire database system will be
under the control of administrator.

So, by this online application we can easily perform\conduct

descriptive exams. We can create and reuse paper patterns. We can
maintain a question bank organized in various subjects & topics and
create question papers using question bank. Main advantage is that we
can examine answer sheets online (manually) and Publish & view
results online. When needed we can also conduct the exams of both
type i.e., both Descriptive and Objective at a time, and we can reduce
the effort for students as well as faculty members under the control of
Administrator.
