In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real
media products?
My music magazine's finished front cover follows the forms and conventions of a real product as it
has one main image which is of a singer who is featured within the magazine, the image looks
professional and like it was taken in a studio making sure the artist is directly addressing the reader
and conveying the attitude that goes with the main cover line. My magazines title is 'LIVE' sticking to
the one word and is it's own unique font, challenging the forms and conventions with my title it does
not cover the whole width of the page. Continuing to follow the forms and conventions my
positioning statement is above the title and the price and issue date are underneath, I have one
main cover line and then smaller cover lines to the left going down one side of the image each cover
line is 2 words and has a sub line in a smaller font and different colour, like all magazine my barcode
is on the front because of advertisement and I have a strip across the bottom listing some of the
artists that will appear in my magazine and to keep on following the forms and conventions I have
used a small number of colours on my front cover which is the same small group of colours that are
used on my contents page, which sticks to one page and has the usual 3 columns there is a main
image that relates to the feature article and is surrounded by smaller images which have page
numbers to anchor them to the written contents following the forms and conventions, my contents
also follows by including the magazine name the issue date and the word contents, the written
contents has page number followed by a first line and then a sub line in smaller font that gives more
detail. My magazine follows the forms and conventions further with my double page spread it has
one main image on one side of the article and has a main title running the width of both pages
followed by a stand first giving more detail about the article, next to the page numbers is the
magazine name and somewhere on the pages there is a quote from the article. My article starts with
a drop capital and the first paragraph is a larger font the article is split in to 3 columns and
challenges the forms and conventions with a third page.
