STEP BY STEP PROGRESS OF HOW I MADE MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD USING INDESIGN

Firstly I opened a indesign document up and copy and pasted my article from a word document. I picked a suitable font which goes with the genre and fits the content of the article. I used a drop cap to define the start of the article. Also as the start of the article is one of the bands songs, I decided to put it in capitals, to make a difference. Also the last words are is capitals and bigger font to make them stand out as the artist is excited about what he is saying. Next I added in my main image for the double page spread. I struggled finding the right photograph as many I had taken were landscape, so could not be used as my main image. The image has been cropped and edited using Photoshop. Just making the lighting brighter.

Next I created a tittle and buy line using Photoshop. I have kept the colours very similar to the artists clothing and also the front cover of the magazine. Using a similar colour for the font of the tittle, as the artists tshirt, with a white

stroke makes it appealing and stands out on the plain grey background. The bright pink buy line catches the audiences attention and is more attractive because of the bright colour which represents the genre of the magazine. To make the double page spread more attractive I added 3 small action shots of the artists recording there music, the shots are very natural as they are not posed, I also used the same camera shot medium close up and it gives a closer range of the artists, this conveys a relationship with the audience, especially when eye contact is given.

Finally I added the artists names above or below their photograph, this makes the double page spread look busier, and more full. I was inspired by NME magazine, to have 3 small images at the bottom of the page with the artists names above. Also using a black font with a pink stroke makes the image visually appealing against the busy dark background, and

also links with the colours of the front cover, contents page and artists clothing, as well as that I changed the background of the text the same colour as it stood out. Because of this I have to change the text colour to white, therefore it matched the stroke on the tittle. And lastly, most articles in magazines have an exclusive sign therefore I have done a RECONNECT EXCLUSIVE tittle on the top of the right hand side page. Using the same font as the masthead on the font cover makes it link back to front cover. And also using a white font with a black stroke makes the it look 3D and really stands out against the pink background.

Final product My double page spread.
