Who can submit candidacy


 All UTM students in good academic standing coming back for the 2011-2012 academic year are
eligible for ALL positions. Must be available during the summer.
 Returning executives from this year’s council are guaranteed an interview, but not guaranteed
an offer.

Who can vote


 Economics specialists
 Economics Majors or Minors
 Commerce Specialists
 Poli-Sci/Eco double majors
 Industrial Relations
 Financial Economics Specialists
 EXCLUSION: 1st year ECO100 students

Campaigning Rules
 Note: VP candidates that are interviewed but not selected may run for a director position, and
re-apply their candidacy for elections.
 Class announcements - only classes from the Department of Economics (must ask professor well
in advance. Approval is at the discretion of the professor).
 Posters – inquire with Student Centre Infobooth for exact locations allowed.
 Pamphlet/handouts
 Internet (websites, facebook, etc)
 Word of Mouth
 Endorsements from any group and organization are NOT allowed
 NOTE: campaigning occurs DURING voting period!!!

 www.uecutm.ca will redirect to voting.utoronto.ca
 Only NAME and CANDIDATE STATEMENT will appear
 Voting officially starts on Monday March 28th at 12:01am and ends on Friday April 1st at 17:00pm

 For interview-based positions, please select a primary and secondary position of preference.
Secondary position is optional
 For election-based positions, prepare a Candidate Statement (word limit???)
 Year and program of study
 Headshot picture of yourself (to be posted on our website for your convenience)
 300 word paragraph on “Why you would like to join UEC”
 Attach your up-to-date, critiqued resume, tailored for the UEC position(s)

Interview Timeline (for interview-based positions)

Sunday March 20th at 5pm – deadline for ALL resume submission, and successful VP candidates will be
contacted for interviews by Sunday night (strongly encouraged to apply before Sunday).
Saturday 19th – Sunday March 20th – review ALL applicants’ resumes, determine candidates
Monday 21st – Thursday 24th – interview all chosen candidates
Friday March 25rd – Successful candidates are chosen in the morning, announced and posted on
website. They will also be contacted on that day, and deadline to accept offer.

Elections Timeline (for interview-based positions)

Friday March 25th – deadline for VP candidates to reapply for director positions
Monday March 28th – Friday April 1 – Elections Voting Period AND Campaigning Period
