HO Admin- How to work In groups General 1.

The group should select someone to organize and manage the groups efforts. 2. Everyone should have the means to communicate with each other when not in class. 3. Everyone should be familiar with the task that must be completed. Group assignments and projects will have different tasks/ responsibilities. 4. It will be the groups responsibility to ensure everyone bears some of the burden. The tasks will be easier to complete if everyone is responsible for a specific part. 5. When conducting research, scholars often cannot take the source of information home with them. Therefore, if you are given a research oriented assignment, focus your efforts initially on taking targeted notes. Like when you view a video, jot down a few key words when you come across data in the document that may be relevant to your question. Dont worry about complete sentences at this point. Continue reading and jotting key words. Work on formulating a complete response after reading the document by analyzing the targeted notes. Discuss with your group members the response you are developing. As a group, arrive at a consensus regarding the accuracy of that response. Consider 1. Group activities result in all members receiving the same grade. Therefore, ensure that your group is aware of the nature and content of your efforts. Regardless of the assignment, each person will have a role/ responsibility that will be evaluated. 2. Be sure to allow yourself time to become acquainted with the features of any online application you are instructed to use. If your group has access to a device (iPad, iPod Touch, Android Tablet,...), that device should be used to aid you. But, dont think youll be able to complete the assignment with it. Completion is best reserved for computers at school, public library, or home. 3. In the case of Mindmeister, their is a time machine feature that will allow me to verify that every member had the opportunity to contribute to the group effort. This feature records all inputs and deletions while simultaneously identifying who made them. 4. If there are more people in the group than questions to respond to, the groups organizer should assign other tasks for that person to do. For example, that person can act as the reviewer and ensure that a product is perfect before Mr.V starts to evaluate it. And/ Or that person can make final (minor) edits to the product before final evaluation.
